I have a feeling that Stolarz may get the start tonight. I could be wrong but if not tonight then for sure game three if the Leafs lose tonight with Woll.
The Leafs absolutely should be giving Stolarz more time with a concussed head and not be rushing him back. Playing him tonight would be a panicked move showing the world, and most importantly Joseph Woll, that Woll cannot be trusted. Woll is too good of a goalie to be sending these kinds of messages to, and it will backfire badly if the Leafs do it.
More importantly, even if Stolarz says he is feeling good, when he gets on the ice and he sees pucks and players flying around (motion can trigger concussion symptoms) he might suddenly feel different and the Leafs don't want to find out when they are down 5-0 that he doesn't feel right. Let him rest and do all necessary motion and sensory testing before you clear him.
It also reminds me that around 7-8 years ago the Yankees had a promising young outfielder named Clint Frazier whose career was ruined by post-concussion syndrome. They put Clint in the outfield too soon after the injury. He was visibly having trouble tracking fly balls, they were all adventures. Finally he told the Yankees coaching staff he was dizzy on his feet and they removed him from the game. Same thing could happen with Stolarz.
It also reminds me of a friend of mine who had a post concussive disorder literally collapsed in my arms due to motion sickness. Seeing moving cars was the trigger. I saw that his legs were jelly and he started leaning against me. The legs went and I needed to support his full body weight to prevent him from collapsing to the pavement in a heap. I gradually walked him over to a bench wnd sat him down while he recovered. He told me his head was spinning.
Don't fuck around with these symptoms!
