1. A few provider ask for ID. Unless you want to see someone specific that ask for it, you have a lot of options that don't ask for it. And for those who ask, do you research, lot of good review and participation on this board could be a good sign.
2. Normally deposit are sent with a interac transfer. Like when you send money to your buddy email to pay your part in a lunch. This is more a deterrent for time waster. Again, lots of option that don't require any. And I would never send a deposit to a provider without doing the appropriate research first.

Go in reverse order, maybe. Search here for indy reviews first, just to see if they're legit, then reach out about deposit/ID requirements. Most sps have multiple ways to screen but ultimately the ID way is one of the most popular so if that's a deal breaker then find one that doesn't require it or just bite the bullet (black out unnecessary info if they allow it). Understand that your ID/screening isn't for some sw master database that is stored in the cloud and could get hacked, it's for their protection. It's akin to mutually assured destruction: you know they are a sex worker, working on the grey edge of the law and they know who you actually are, so be cool and have fun and everything stays between you two. Neither party is looking to use that info.
Same with deposit, it's to make sure they don't get fucked over time/incall booking/money-wise, so find someone with different requirements or payment methods (uber gift card, etc) or just send an e-transfer and bring the rest in cash.
Can't speak on agencies, never tried one, but others here will have feedback to help out, I'm sure.

Go to an Indy that doesn’t ask for IDs or for an agency.

You can pay deposits using Throne (if they have one), Wise Transfer. PayPal isn’t safe.

If you want to send a gift card wait until you’re in Canada because most companies don’t allow you to use gift cards in USD $

Pretty much has been covered by now and i would say CaptRenault likely have the most complete answer.

Just stick with agencies that are on Merb. It does not 100% guarentee a 5 stars meeting of course, but it remove bait and switch, scams and the other worst thing. I must say tough i am unfamiliar with the asian agencies, never used them, so im speaking of the likes of Euphoria, Forever etc.

One way or another you are going to have to jump through some hoops to meet many indies, either by providing references, proving your identity, paying a deposit or passing other mysterious hurdles that they might put in your way. It can be a lot of time and work for just one meeting. If you have your heart set on a certain indy, just contact her directly and ask her what she expects you to do in order to meet. Try contacting a few indy girls. Also keep in mind that they often prefer to book their appointments 24 hours or more in advance. As I said, for your first trip to Montreal, agencies are a better bet.
