LOL!!

Prince is same "vintage" except he's not staying mainstream, more underground, but always there!

It's been forever I didn't hear of Springsteen!

Yes, STARS OF TODAY. These people i mentionned still rock the place as much as they did years ago....heck, U2 is the world's top music group in my opinion. And Springsteen is still the best live rock act to be seen anywhere, like he's been for the past 20 years. I've personally seen both Springsteen and U2 in concert over the last couple of years and i can't really say which i liked better. Both were absolutely incredible!

I saw Springsteen in Mtl a couple of years ago when he performed with the E-Street Band....i also later saw him in Toronto at the Skydome. As for U2, i saw them twice last year in Toronto....yes, twice in the same week! Too bad for the people of Mtl that they only did one show in their city, since tickets weren't as hard to obtain in Toronto (they played all week long). Scalpers never made a penny with me!

Doc, I agree with you about The Boss. I saw him twice at the old Forum with the E-Street Band and they were possibly the two best shows, along with Kiss, that I've ever seen. He would do a great half time show, if he had the band with him, but he's been out of the mainstream radio spotlight almost as long as Prince. U2 did the half time show already a couple of years ago, Avril is too young and doesn't qualify as a super star, Beyonce and both of the Simpson sisters are disqualified because you have to perform LIVE at the Superbowl...no lip syncing. Faith Hill is just not energetic enough for a half time show. Sexy as hell though! How about Christina Aguilera...hot, sexy and an amazing voice or Joss Stone?
I know that Joss isn't exactly a superstar yet but maybe in year or two.
Or better still...Shakira!! Anyone but Celine.:p

And it's not like Prince hasn't done anything lately. I don't think a year goes by when he doesn't release at least one album. The diffference is that he doesn't cater to the commercial market and doesn't get airplay.
Check out his 'Madhouse' discs sometimes if you're into bluesy jazz. No vocals on those though.

The Boss had a very successful album that came out about 4-5 years ago...The Rising. I bought the cd twice! (don't ask why....LOL).

As for the Jessica Simpson & Beyonce, i'd be surprised if they lip-synch in their shows. I'm fairly certain Beyonce doesnt...the woman has an amazing voice. I agree Christina also has quite a voice.

Avril Lavigne isn't a superstar??? That's news to me....

I'll throw out another name for the Superbowl half-time show....Garth Brooks. Or has he already done it? (i forgot U2 had done it)

If you still have that second CD of The Rising, I will gladly take it the next time I see you in Montreal, which I think might be fairly soon.:) I really liked the title track.

Garth Brooks??? Isn't he retired from the business? Besides...the country stars have Nascar. Lets keep the Superbowl for rock and roll. And no, I don't consider Avril a superstar. It takes more than a couple of pop albums to deserve that status and she seems more interested in modelling and movie voice overs than music these days. The same for Jessica Simpson and Beyonce who are more products than music stars. I'd like to see someone who has created their own career instead of some spoiled little girl who owes their success more to daddy and the papparazzi than anything else.

How a Bowie/Iggy Pop duo for next year!! :p

Iggy Pop would be great but mainstream America wouldn't stand for it because it's too busy lapping up mainstream crap like Jessica Simpson and U2. Iggy turns 60 this year but he still has more piss 'n' vinegar as a performer than anyone else out there. Give Prince and The Boss their due also - they may be old farts but they've still got it. Bono's too busy trying to earn his sainthood to put out any decent music and most of today's stars are just pretty faces jazzed up with studio trickery - it's Milli Vanilli all over again.
