With Trump pushing his fake news/ politically correct world, With the me too movement and the Scandinavian model mentality towards hobbying these days. Are we about to enter into a hobbying ice age? All things go in waves. In 1900 women wore their skirts down to their ankles and by the 1920s the flapper look came around and women drank, smoked and danced provocatively. When the 40s rolled around women's skirts were back down to mid calf. Are we hobbyist ( dinosaurs ) about to go into extinction?

Oh Festa/Sesta...Well Trump has been absolutely ruthless in taking down pedophiles since he was elected, and they are indeed dropping like flies. The reason for this is to target pedophiles, even though adult sex workers will still be affected

and the answer is a big obvious NO... it's never been as popular and will keep rising until the release of affordable quality sex androids, which should be at least 50 years from now.

Look behind you.
Probably 90% of the general population does not agree with paying for sex, what is happening is trying to get rid of drug dealing pimps, pedophiles and underage sex workers. Some here were freaking out when C-36 was introduced and nothing happened to the " legit " sex trade.
Trump, politically correct, fuck that is funny.
Have you heard about the twit who wants to change mankind to peoplekind?

Trump is politically correct and we’re in a hobbying ice age? Ummm. I don’t think so. Matter of fact I know that’s not true with 100% certainty. Lol. Do I think the hobby is more fragmented today with underground strip clubs, MP’s, fetish parties, brothels, escorts, body rubs, SA, etc? Oh absolutely. That means less engagement by guys on traditional escort boards and hot talent having greater options especially in NYC and other big cities so you may not see the pretty ladies in your speed lane. Do I think the quality of the escort talent pool has dropped off in cities like Montreal? Yes I swear by it but it’s cyclical and it’s droped off in a lot of places. Even in the US where SESTA currently prevails we can not forget a basic fact of life. Guys love pussy, 20 something girls love money, sex and attention and those two phenomenon cannot be legislated, moralized, shamed or marched out of existence. We may go through some climate changes now and again but no ice ages. Two agencies in NNJ and NYC whom I have good casual relationships with are telling me they’ve been working OT screening guys over the last week in light of Sesta impact. That tells you what you should know. Ice age? Nah, temperature dropped from 82 degrees F to about 74 degrees F. No ice in forecast.

If you want to help change things, you can donate to sex work rights charities and fundations to help them in their political fights. You can, for exemple, give to Stella in Montreal that do a lot of education and speak for sex workers in the medias. :)

Hey Patron. I started this conversation in another thread related to Montreal as a Hobby Destination and you and others offered valuable insights. In absolute terms I think quality has tapered off a bit. I don’t think the quality in Montreal or NYC/NNJ matches what is was just a few years ago and that’s true not just regarding the escort scene but the underground strip clubs filled with NYC area college girls and other strip clubs in general. One good example for folks that have ever traveled to Miami: One of the biggest full contact lap dancing strip clubs on the planet is Tootsies Caberet. I visited last weekend when I was in south Florida for a wedding and found quality and performance was much lower than my last visit there about 8 years ago. Perhaps it was an off night? Nah, I got talking to a couple locals and they shared my opinion not just about that particular establishment but the escort and SC scene in Miami as well. Do I think it’s terribly worse in Montreal? No I don’t. Matter of fact, I’m back there in 2 weeks. It’s my favorite place to hobby. But I don’t think I’m being disparaging when I say scenes go in cycles and Montreal is not near its top. Nothing goes in a straight line and we all know a couple agencies took some recent hits. And I think we move through cycles quickly. But I also agree with you that women in general are different today than 10 years ago. I’d even say 5 years ago. Not just physical appearance but in some cases attitude. You always raise great points Patron and provoke further thoughts on a topic.

Dont you find it cynical that they have a president who had extramarital affairs with pornstars (most probably not for free) and who paid them to keep their mouth shut after while at the same time his police seize a website that is a tool for prostitution?

The ice age is sweeping around the globe, what makes you think we will be an oasis?

You really think there is any chance over the next year or two that Montreal will not be the hobbyist’s paradise it currently is? I just fail to see how that could ever happen. The FemiNazi population up there doesn’t seem to be too active or vocal and attitudes are just different compared to the rest of Canada and certainly rural US.

Nope, but things got too easy, and too public, and too open.

Keep it accessible but private. There are more people who disapprove of this activity than approve of it. But they will look the other way, unless it is shoved in their face with public advertising and mega brothels. Shove it in too many faces, and they retaliate. That is what we are going through, in my opinion. The pendulum will swing back, but hopefully not too far.

I agree with all of this. Advertising has taken a basic step back to the pre-Internet age, when it was done much more discreetly than now. I remember ads in Journal de Montreal and, in the USA, the Bargain News. We are going back to those days. In those days, businesses operated discreetly and advertised much more discreetly than now. So, that is where we are headed.

As far as the "adult web communities" - I don't know what that specifically entails, but if it means what I think, they already shut down one in Seattle and a bunch of people were arrested. Was a sort of private network of clients that got exposed.

@ Patron. Well said. We need to be more discreet. Parents don't want kids seeing and hearing about this stuff. To be fair, it's too much for kids.
Kids need a simpler world.

RobertNYC, are you sure it is a quality drop off, or are you just having trouble fully adjusting to the new world?

Women in their mid-20s to early 40s today are often 15-20 pounds heavier than they were at the same age a decade or two ago, their hair is 3-6 inches shorter, they have way, way more tatooes, and more facial piercings.

The video in the Other Cities Sao Paulo thread is interesting to watch.

A little over a year ago, I saw an 19 year old escort who had really long blond hair, weighed about 95 pounds, and had no tats or piercings other than her ear and belly button. I felt like a had entered a time warp.

These are factors why SP markets nearly everywhere are not what they used to be. I am not paying for a tattooed woman with her hair cropped who is rougher around the edges. There is even what I call "tattoo creep" into the better agencies as well, with more providers sporting them. Not my taste.

Around Montréal...
Yes, the term "hobbyist" seems to be from another era and even the term had a very negative consonance presently,
could it be for escorts or clients that don't want to be referred at it.

The hobbying situation was always evolving, I remember a time when most services were on the street scene. In recent times there have been quick changes. There are many reasons for these changes and one reason is the government ( and governments around the world ) have been cracking down on under the table money. Since the 911 event there seems to be less and less illegally made money. Gone are the Pakistani stores on St. Laurent x Sherbrooke selling grey market electronics. In recent years they have installed devices in restaurants and bars to track food and drink purchases. I remeber a car dealership sales manager telling me about 25 years ago when once in a while people would come in buy cars with $1000 bills. The $1000 bill is no longer printed and all old bills are recalled at the bank. It is no longer legal to buy a expensive luxury car in cash. The government does not want to enable or encourage under the table cash businesses.

I too, have the impression that the government tries to limit the money made under the table, but, in a very hypocritical way. Moreover, what certain people ignore, it is that we are many to pay taxes, but has to make up the reality by saying that our income is from translation, consultation or other autonomous work.

The world changes, and not only the right way. Does one day androids will replace escorts ? Maybe, but I doubt that a machine can replace the human needs. Sex workers have a legendary strength of resillience and adaptation. There is a time where Montreal had a chic red light on the streetscene, Not so long ago, escorts advertise in newspapers. Internet changed things ; more competition, and the marketing took a much bigger place.

But I have the impression that the beautiful years are behind us. I understand that some people have concerns with the fact that backpage was not appropriate, because accessible to children. On the other hand, i'm afraid that things fall over, and work on the dark web in a few years. What would raise many problems about safety.
