Thunderball! That's not a choice you hear that often... usually the slow underwater scenes bore a lot of people.

I am a huge Bond aficionado... huge. But, I can't pick favorites as I like various aspects for various reasons... too much to choose.

I must have seen all Bond movies at least ten times.
My favourite bond film was From Russia With Love, with Sean Connery as Bond.
My favourite Bond actor is a toss up between Sean Connery and Roger Moore, who are very different but I found suited the Bond role.
I did however enjoy all Bond movies, even my least favourite The Man with the Golden Gun.

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE is my 2nd favorite and Moore is my 2nd favorite Bond. I actually like THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. That was the first Bond I saw at the movie theater.

Connery .... Sean Connery. The one and only . Best movie I’ll go with Dr.No being the one that started it all .

Some memorable lines: Fatima Blush: “ Oh, how reckless of me .I made you all wet “
James Bond: “Yes , But my martini is still dry” Classic

Pussy Galore: “My name is pussy Galore.”
James Bond: “I must be dreaming. “

Honey Rider: “Are you looking for shells too?”
James Bond: “ No , I’m just looking “ No other Bond delivered the lines like Sean Connery. A legend

Best Bond: Sean Connery
Best Bond Movies:
- Casino Royale (2006)
- From Russia with Love
- The Man with the Golden Gun (great take on the oil crisis of the early 70s...and the quest for the first country to commercialize an alternative energy source to replace oil)

...and just to be fair:
Worst Bond: Timothy Dalton...any actor with whose first name is "Timothy"...well doesn't deserve to play Bond!
Worst Bond Movies: every single one starring Timothy Dalton

Yes Dalton was the worst of the lot. His Bond was way too short-tempered and angry, the complete opposite of cool and collected.

I guess it goes by generation also.
For me it was Connery and Moore, for the younger ones in my family it was Pierce Brosnan.
He was ok, I liked him better in his tv role in Remington Steele.

But we all seem to agree that Timothy Dalton was the worst Bond.

You think he was worse than George Lazenby? Lazenby only lasted 1 film, Dalton 2.

BTW when I first looked at this thread I thought it was a typo and that the OP had started a thread on “Best Bod”.

I concur that Lazenby was just as bad as Dalton...however, Lazenby had a tough act to follow in Sean Connery who temporarily resigned in a contractual dispute with the producers!

The one film Lazenby was in (On Her Majesty's Secret Service) is actually a really good film and Diana Rigg was fantastic in that movie, as was Telly Savalas as Blofeld. The film was good despite the presence of Lazenby, who was not really as good an actor or as charismatic as Connery before him or Roger Moore after. I think the team that produced the Bond films at that time viewed his hiring as a mistake, and after Connery left after Diamonds Are Forever, they never called Lazenby again. Roger Moore did okay with the role, peaking with The Spy Who Loved Me which introduced "Jaws", another of the classic Bond villains.

HAHAHA you guys show your age so much :p Sean Connery , that was a million years ago :p (im joking, i can enjoy old school cinema)

Joke asides mine can't be any other than Pierce Brosnan and Goldeneye. If you were born in the 80s and played Goldeneye on the N64 as a teen then you know what im talking about.

I guess on this one i have better luck being on the SPs side than on the clients side

Goldeneye on N64 is the only reason I paid attention to any bond movies!

My favorite by far was Roger Moore (rip) in the movie "For your eyes only" in 1981. He did a movie called boat trip starring Cuba Gooding Jr back about 15 yrs ago and i particularly liked it because Moore wasn't afraid to make fun of himself. His character was gay in the movie and kind of spoofed his Bond role which was funny.

He also was the oldest Bond to appear on screen. Maybe it gives some of us hope( it does for me, lol) that just because we're not as young as we used to be that we can't still be as charming and elegant as Bond was in the movies to the ladies.

”.

I would put Lazenby as my second least favourite, but like you explained in your next post, the Bond film he was in was actually really good and made up for him playing Bond.

like HM the younger guys in my family all thought the only Bond that counts is Pierce Brosnan and yes they still remember playing Golden Eye.

He was always a favourite of mine.
I even remember watching reruns of him playing Ivanhoe in a British swashbuckling series which was originally aired in 1958.

Best Bond: Connery, for sure, before he lost interest, from DN to TB; he was especially well-served by the material and a strong team behind the camera. The other Bonds tend to suffer the anxiety of his influence. Fleming was so impressed by Connery he gave Bond a Scottish background; hence much of the "family background" we get decades later in Skyfall.

Lazenby looked great, especially in the action sequences; but the only acting he could do was in bluffing his way into the part. Unbelievably, he was badly advised and actually quit the role a month before the release of OHMSS; he was not fired. I think the producers had even offered him a seven-picture deal ....

Moore was too lightweight for me, his films, though fun (especially SWLM), are often little more than ridiculous pastiche.

Dalton could have been great and was meant to be a return to Fleming, but his two films have weak scripts and poor direction.

Brosnan did his best with mostly poor material after his first two; but he was always a little too much of a pretty boy for me.

Only Craig and his films are a worthy comparison to the best of Connery, especially CR and SF.
