Hey guys,
I'm looking to rent an appartment for some Incall.
I was wondering which area in Montreal would be the best, the more convenient for you.
My choice are ;
Ville-Émard close to the Monk station (probably the cutest studio i've saw for the price)
Plateau, clean place, but simple.
Downtown, more expensive.
Pie IX.

No matter the place you choose, make sure you have Parking suggestions to offer to the clients...

Any of them provided there is access by Public transport and nearby car parking. A short walk is OK but Clients don't want a long hike to Freeze in Winter or suffer Heat Exhaustion in the Summer.

Downtown can sometimes be a pain in the ass for parking. That's the reason I was considering Ville-Emard and the plateau as the two first.
And I guess Pie IX is fine also, but I'm not used to Montreal East.

Yes i'm also looking for Public transport, as it is mandatory for some of you.

Thanks for your advice :)

I have always found the plateau ridiculously difficult to find parking. I was down there Monday night and with all the snow it was hell, I was in my car driving around for 30 minutes before I finally found somewhere, and even then was a good three blocks from my destination! That wouldn't be good for business.
Downtown can be difficult for parking as well, but if there is pay parking nearby it should be okay.

I actually like the Ville Emard option, only a 10 minute drive from downtown, and a few stops along the green line metro. I don't know the Pie IX area well, except that I had a friend who lived not far from there, on Ste Catherine, and his neighborhood was quite undesirable. I wouldn't be comfortable inviting clients there.

Pie IX / Ste-Cath is the Junkie SW Area... Indeed not a very good place but the parking is already easier there at least.

Plateau is a nightmare for parking even without snow...

Downtown, often, even the parking spots with parkometer are difficult to find... Especially during events like festival and hockey games etc...

pie 9 area is easy to find parking and to get to by metro, if you look closer to viau you might find nicer appartments for rent, also along Ontario street you have lots a old buildings being renovated. I agree with uncle bob that st cath and pie 9 is not a nice area but closer to the pie 9 metro close to college de maisonneuve and close to viau metro is not bad. lots of free parking and the parking that you have to for is cheaper than the plateau or downtown. also some areas close to vlle emard looks a lot like st cath and pie 9 area. so where ever you chose make sure you check out the area

I think if you're around pie-ix it doesn't look so great for your business so let's say your rate was above average, people wouldn't be happy with it in that area. That's just my opinion. I like the plateau because I'm biased but some of the plateau isn't really close to any metro stations. Maybe around Mont Royal there could be parking on the side streets? I feel like it's there to be found in the plateau if you look off the main roads and read the signs, unlike downtown where it's impossible.

I should add that I don't really consider myself a hobbiest, just giving my 2 cents.

Ville Emard is the best option close to Metro and easy to get to by highway, close to downtown 10-15 minutes. Parking is not difficult.

Plateau is hard to find parking as alot of it is reserved parking, there is no easy access by highway, being close to a metro might be a problem.

Downtown is downtown

P9 is not an easy palce to get to by highway, too far out east, parking I would not know about

if the service is there I don't think that the location is a big deal, at least for me. and like I said some part of ville emard are just as bad as some parts of hochelaga, distance from downtown they are both about the same, to get to pie 9 from downtown its just about 5...10 min from the ville marie tunnel if there is no traffic. so I guess in the end it all depends where you find a better deal, both have their pros and cons. parking and distance are similar.

Anywhere near a metro station will do. But for those coming in car, Plateau and downtown can be complicated sometimes.

I like Griffintown
It's near a highway and a bridge, close to downtown, old port and the west side, there's a lot of big apartment buildings, parking is quite easy and there's a few paying parking lot, 3 metro station nearby and a nice hotel there soon.
Little downside, it can be a expensive in the new buildings.

It seems like all the answers depend on where the poster lives. A better question then would be where does everyone live. :)

Highway, metro + discretion = :thumb:

or Parking, Metro + discretion = :thumb:

I pretty much agree with Mitsou, if someone really wants to see you they will arrange to meet no matter where you receive. As mention several times previously, parking is important to me and I guess Metro is for others as well. Many have said that parking is too difficult downtown but to me I really like meeting there. I can walk to the meeting during the day. So when I decide to meet someone I'll first look downtown, second would be somewhere discrete and finally is there easy parking.
