It describes his sexual attraction to dead bodies.

I hate writing the following without references of where the evidence came from, but the site I found wants to promote stories of necrophilia and I refuse to support that by posting the link.

Regarding the above post, incredibly, the website on the subject lists only 14 states in the U.S. that have statutes against necrophilia. Of course the difference with the subject of this thread is doing the actual killing and the butchering.

The scenario is soooo gross I wonder if this killer is falsely trying to link some of the elements like necrophilia in these reports to himself to build the nefarious celebrity he seems to crave.

I wonder what this sicko's plan is on the lam. From his blog posts, he seems to think that creating fake ID's, changing his appearance and dumping rental car after rental car will be sufficient to keep him on the lam for a long time. I wonder how much cash he has - my guess is not too much. I doubt he has a safe house waiting for him somewhere but who knows. It will be interesting to see how long he is able to elude capture using the escape methodology he outlined in his blog. If he speaks French maybe he heads to some place like Martinique, where he can get work as a male hooker and blend in with a population that is not likely to recognize him. Third world countries are the easiest places to pull off the escape plan he has outlined.

MONTREAL - Suspected killer Luka Magnotta was upset his boyfriend had ended their relationship and was seeing another man before Jun Lin was slain and dismembered, a source told QMI Agency on Friday.

The victim has been identified as Lin, a Chinese national university student who worked as a part-time cashier at a Montreal convenience store.

Montreal police said Lin was last seen May 24 and was reported missing by a friend on May 29.

That friend, a source told TVA -- QMI's French-language TV network -- was Lin's new lover.

The gruesome killing has triggered a global manhunt for 29-year-old Magnotta, a former porn actor who police said they believe has since fled the country.

Montreal police said Magnotta faces charges of first degree murder, indignity to a human body, as well as producing and distributing obscene materials and criminal harassment of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Police said they believe it was Lin's torso found in a suitcase outside a Montreal apartment last week, and it's likely his hand and foot that were sent to political parties in Ottawa. A DNA test will confirm this, police said.

The 33-year-old victim went to Concordia University's school of engineering and computer science.

Frederick Lowy, Concordia president and vice-chancellor, sent an e-mail about Lin to students and faculty Friday morning.

"I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of student Jun Lin," the e-mail read.

Lin was scheduled to work at the convenience store, Hkk, in Montreal's southend, on Friday.

"When he didn't show up to work on Friday, I assumed he forgot that his schedule changed," store owner Kankan Huang said.

It's believed Lin was brutally murdered and dismembered likely after he finished work on Thursday or during the following day, Montreal police said.

Huang said he thought Lin's life was simple because his employee rarely spoke about anything other than work and school.

"(Lin) was calm," Huang said. "He never complained, didn't really talk much about his personal life."

Lin had been in Montreal since July and used to live above Huang's store.

Huang was likely one of the last people - aside from Lin's killer - to see Lin alive, according to Yan Shi, president of the Concordia Chinese Student Association.

Shi told QMI Agency he was alerted Wednesday a member of Montreal's Chinese community had gone missing.

"I sent out (the alert) through our channels," Shi said.

Shi said he was told by members of the Chinese community that Lin was last seen leaving the convenience store on May 24. Shi said Lin sent a text message to a friend at 9 p.m. that night. That was the last time anyone heard from Lin, Shi said.

"It's terrible," Shi said. "We all thought Montreal was safe."

Lin's family, who live in China, were notified of Lin's death through the Canadian embassy, police said.

No students or faculty approached by QMI Agency on Friday at Concordia said they knew Lin.

Munir Nweiser, a PhD student in the same faculty as Lin, said he didn't know Lin personally, but said that being an international student living in Montreal can be lonely and scary.

He said international students are actively looking to meet new people, but added it's hard when you don't speak French well.

"I am going through a depression," Nweiser said. "I have no family here and it's hard to meet new people. And when you do meet people, you never know who you're meeting."

Since this is turning out to be a result of rejection by a lover (I guess), it might fall under the category of a one time impulse killing. But with the alleged killer's history of animal torture, his connection to necrophilia, and his need get so much publicity out of this murder and butchering, it seems likely that given the opportunity and similar motivations he would do it again.

What mystifies me is why anyone would pick out Magnotta for a "boyfriend" IF they knew his background and his quirks/fetishes. These seem to have been very public and it seems doubtful Jun Lin didn't know about them.

Lesson 1: freaky habits may seem "cool" (somehow) to some people, but deal with the reality of what they are and may result in. It could cost you everything.

My guess about Magnotta's disappearance theory is his fetishes are too strong and strange to give them up and just hide away.

From what is reported, Lin sounds like he was a bored young Asian university student who worked in a convenience store and did not have a whole of excitement going on his life. Yes, the article gave us some more illumination from a few who knew him. But I don't think being gay carries the same stigma among Asians as it still does within Christian societies in the social or Biblical sense. So I'm not sure if he had any more trouble getting along than the many other Asians in the city.

Police in Canada said last week Magnotta had probably left the country for France. However, detectives have since confirmed the suspect had taken refuge in Paris before boarding a bus to Berlin at the weekend.

Magnotta was spotted by a cafe owner in Berlin's Neukölln district on Monday, police said. "Today, at about 1.30pm, a witness recognised Mr Magnotta in an internet cafe," said Guido Busch, a spokesman for the city's police. "Seven officers went into the cafe and immediately overpowered Magnotta, who tried at first to give a false name. The officers didn't buy it."

German television quoted the owner of the cafe as saying Magnotta had spent an hour surfing the internet before officers entered and took him into custody.

Magnotta is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, Busch added.

French police say the suspect fled to France on 26 May and was hiding in a hotel in a Parisian suburb as late as last Friday. Detectives raided his hotel room where they found pornographic magazines, according to reports.

In a crime scene Montreal police say is the worst they have seen, Magnotta's flat contained a bloody mattress and pools of blood on the floor and in the refrigerator. Detectives said a janitor found a torso with no head or limbs in a suitcase in an alley behind the building.
