When I used to require references as part of screening, I would see that term quite often.

Some clients were labelled as carrot danglers. Let me put you in context:

“Hi so&so, X says that he has seen you in the past. Can you vouch for him?”

“He’s an easy client but he’s a carrot dangler. He often promises things and doesn’t deliver.”

What does that mean?
When you exchange messages with a sex worker and start promising things such as but not limited to:
I’ll buy you a gift card
I’ll bring you a gift next time I see you
Tell me what you would like and I’ll buy it for you
Can I spoil you?
Do you have a wishlist?

It creates expectations that won’t be met and it can quickly deteriorate the relationship you have with the provider. You also lose credibility and you risk the sex worker not wanting to vouch for you.

It is totally ok if you don’t have the means to spoil a woman you see every now and then. I have said many times that tips/gifts are never expected but always appreciated.

Are you intentionally doing that or did you just not realize how annoying it could be?

Oh, not carrot as a euphemism...

Edit: I'm careful what I ask about because I don't want to waste your time or raise your hopes if I don't intend to book/buy something.

For clients not flush with money your rates tend to already be higher than what they spend on most things. So when gifts are also in that range they probably balk when they see what they actually cost. They may really want to get you those gifts, and want to be able to afford them, but then they realize it's too much.

But I'm sure there are plenty stringing you along with promises of more hoping it will get them better service. And those that do would never answer honestly here.

Spoiling should be kept as a nice and pleasant surprise.
I am more of an outcall kind of guy, so i usually buy a few items and keep them around. After getting to know the lady or its a repeat evening then i know what her likes and dislikes are.

Like if she likes dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. She likes red roses, but white is more her favorite.

If incall, then its more of how much can you carry around with you. A small box of chocolate, something from Victoria's secret is okay, can usually fit in your pocket, or gift cards.

And i absolutely agree with you, surprises are the best, always pleasant and gets things going in the right direction.

One question, do you offer the gifts before or after the session?

Sometimes after but mostly before because I just want to unload (like flowers) upon arrival. I tend to notice what would be an original gift when I go to buy something else.
I sometimes craft something by myself like a card and words. I usually get good reactions because I did put some creativity effort in order to please.
I remember once just before Valentine’s Day, I did cut a hart shape card from an aluminum diamond plate sheet. I did another one where she had to unscrew the card with attached screw driver to unveil word with donation. That was a funny one.

You know, I have never told an escort ahead of time that I would bring her anything more than the agreed donation but very often have a $50- $100 gift card in my pocket to give to her before we part ways. The only exception to that would be if I ask her if she would like me to bring a bottle of wine or even something from Tim's or Starbucks. I think a gift should be given without promise or expectation and should be a nice surprise. If I don't have a gift card and I enjoy her company, a nice gratuity is always an option. The "carrot dangling" as you aptly put it seems to be an enticement to get some sort of preferential treatment. I don't care for that type of thinking.

Most people wait until the shower. It gives you time to get in, put your bag down somewhere, talk a little and then see if the person truly deserves the gifts or not.

What if the SP isn’t exactly what you thought she’d be like? I bet you would want to say “I’m sorry this isn’t working” and leave. If you have already given her gifts it’s awkward and a financial loss.

Why do clients do this to themselves? I never play this game. Promises put unnecessary pressure.

Spoiling should be kept as a nice and pleasant surprise.

Voilà! This is way more fun and sustainable :)

We often hear that for trips, extended dates or "becoming a regular" as well. These aren't things you say, you just do.

When doing repeats with a new gem, I have little interest in becoming a regular but a lot in becoming a favorite. To please and being pleased rules along intercourse chemistry.

Depends what the gift is. Is it lingerie you want her to wear? Before. Is it a snack? After.

Is it a first visit? Both have their advantages. Is she your regular? Then whenever you see fit doesn’t matter.

if it’s breakable, edible, gives bad breath or personal for her own TLC, after. If it’s wearable or usable, before.

Or… just go with the flow.

Well, sometimes I offer sex toys... :)

My point exactly

One time, right off entry I gave a cute small bucket of flowers to a girl that nearly have never been spoiled (as she told me).
It maid her smile as she was so happy. And it maid my day.:)

Around the corner
To be honest, I think a lot of us never have.
Every lady needs to get flowers from someone once in a while I usually get 2 dozen red roses besides another gift on special occasions like birthday Christmas or if she happened to have been sick or just feeling down.
Just a way to let her know that I appreciate how kind she is to me always.

Even if it’s a first meeting, it’s probably the best way to break the ice.:)

A good bottle of wine is the best way to break the ice! I never know how to get rid of flowers, I always feel bad when I throw them away when they are dry and most of the time they don't fit in my trash. Bring me wine!
