Met Castro in Havana about 15 years ago at a reception,
I went to wash the blood off my hands soon after I shook his hand. Not my favourite guy.
Fidel R.I.P.
That is..... Rest In Purgatory.

Yet, you've been vacationing in Cuba over the past 20 years or so. Nice of you to continue enriching the Castro brothers and help maintain a political system that you seem to despise so much. Quite the sacrifice on your part! ;)

On this board we got a bunch of right-wing conservative followers and the conservative platform is heavily against prostitution of any kind. Stephen Harper has made prostitution illegal in Canada for the first time in Canadian history.

Ironic, isn't it? ;)

One can tell by the rejoicing that Castro will not be missed. One can tell by Justine Trudeau's statement ( Castro being a great leader ) that he is an idiot and a dictator, he is an embarrassment to Canada, other countries love him because he gives billions of our money to them, no other reason.
I am hoping that the passing of Castro is a good thing for the people of Cuba, can not get much worse.
Just my opinion.

What was Trudeau supposed to say? Canada has been a friend of Castro and Cuba for nearly 50 years. Hundreds of thousands of Canadians flock to Cuba every year during winter. It's certainly not because Canada has bad relations with Cuba. Au contraire. Sure, Fidel Castro was no angel and violate all types of human rights. But both Canada and the United States have in the past and still support various regimes who have done worst things to its people than Castro. What i'm saying is that we all share part of the blame when it comes to human rights since we've all turned looked the other way from the way some of our allies have behaved.

Exactly, Bush and Cheney are two of the worst, lying, murdering criminals in US history who should be brought in front of a tribunal and given the death penalty and long live the memory of Fidel, the greatest leader that the Cubans ever had, if it wasn't for his revolution that threw out the brutal US backed dictator Batista they would never have universal health care, free education for everyone, etc.

Absolutely. I totally agree. And the United States basically forced Castro to turn to the Soviets for support. And they kept their nose out of Cuba and let history take its course, they could have worked with Castro and things would have been much different today.

When you are freezing your ass off in Quebec`s winter....you don`t mind getting warm in the devil`s den.
Besides all the women I`ve slept with despised Fidel and his state police that made their lives miserable.

Oh come on. I don't care but do you need a list of the very warm places that are not in Cuba. The Dominican Republic is right next door.

There goes the Humanitarian of the Century award. This could be the cutest statement ever made on a board anywhere. I almost can't type because I'm chuckling continuously. Oh Doc, I don't support the Communist system because I only bang women who've suffered under it and hate it. REALLY!!! I LOVED READING THIS. :D At least it's the cute post of the year.

Doc you obviously haven`t lived in a Communist country as I have.
My Grandfather had spent 7 years in prison for something that isn`t even considered a crime in a western country.
Fuck communism and fuck dictatorships and if anyone here dislikes our democratic government then they should move to North Korea.

But you also could have went to the Dominican Republic, Mexico, etc. Why Cuba and in the process supporting a dictatorship?

Yet, you kept on supporting such a country by frequently vacationing there. I find your statements in regards to this to be very hypocritical.

Maybe Trudeau is too young and too far from Cuba (and the Miami exiles) to really understand what happened?

The Americans have been close to the Saudis for decades. George W. Bush even hosted some of them (and the Taliban in pre-9/11 times) at his ranch in Crawford, Texas at various times. Yet Americans are fully aware of all the human rights violations happening in that country and also in other countries it supports and has supported at one time.

The Americans were also involved in the coup to overthrow democratically elected President Salvador Allende of Chile and supported coup leader General Augusto Pinochet, who became one of the most brutal dictators in our lifetime.

It takes two to tango to maintain a dictatorship. The Americans and the Russians have always seemed to be willing dance partners with many of them.

.

Thanks for your kind advice
My friend Doc as usual stretches the truth a bit. I`ve been to Cuba 7 times and I love the women...I mean the people.
I`ve also been to half a dozen Central American and Island nations . Lets compare pics :)

BTW its not a contradiction (or hypocritical as Doc says) to hate the government and still love the people, culture and country.

I agree. But don't you don't seem to realize that frequently vacationing to any country with a dictatorship only enriches and empowers it more. Therefore, it's wrong to criticize such a regime when it's people such as yourself who have helped maintain it by spending your money there (hotels, food, merchandise, etc). The Castro brothers are very fortunate to have people such as yourself often visiting and spending money in their country, Monsieur Cloudsurf. What a great way to show your contempt for a dictatorship who has violated all types of civil rights. ;)

From all appearances, it seems that you have corrupted yourself and your values for the sake of saving a buck. I'm simply pointing out this fact.

OK Doc I`ll let you have the last word. I willingly and selfishly corrupted myself to have fun at the expense of my values....lol
Now I`m off to further damage to my soul by seeing a lovely sexy lady that I met at VIP-9

BTW I would guess that all the "losers" defending Fidel haven`t been to Montreal in a while and are terribly sexually frustrated

Shit so that makes me as corrupt as you Cloud... I have been to Cuba like 5 times. Gave so much t-shirt and kid stuff to the cleaning lady's that the last 3 times I had to pay an extra luggage.. And what about Trudeau, that makes him the most corrupt of us all after his comments yesterday!

Cheers,

p.s. also en route to more damage as I am on my way to Euphoria this pm, yippers! :)

If it doesn't involve supporting a dictator, i'm all for it! :thumb:

If you're referring to me, i just returned from Mtl a few days ago and i'm certainly not 'sexually frustrated' anymore. :D

p.s. I never defended Fidel Castro. I simply pointed out that there are dictators out there that are as worse and our countries support them or have supported them at one time. By the way, i have never been to Cuba and the reason was that i didn't want to support a dictator and his corrupt system. If you or others chose to do the opposite, it's your right. But i simply felt it was hypocritical for you and others to shit all over him when it's your mighty $$ who have helped keep him & his corrupt system in place for decades.

I know people who've been to Cuba over a dozen times. But i haven't heard them trash all over Fidel Castro when they learned of his passing. That's the difference. Had i heard them say a bad thing about him (although they likely would have been right), i would have told them off! How can you trash a person and a regime that you yourself support by spending your dollars there? The Castro brothers had huge smiles on their faces and their Swiss bank accounts keep getting bigger every time foreigners chose to vacation in Cuba.

And what about Trudeau, that makes him the most corrupt of us all after his comments yesterday!

Every past Canadian Prime Minister would have said the same thing he did: Mulroney, Clark, Harper, Chretien, Campbell, Martin, etc.

Cuba has been a long-time economic partner of Canada's and no Prime Minister would dare say anything bad about it's leader once he's passed away. It would have been extremely hypocritical to do so.
