You're so cynical YVO. I'm shocked you would accuse the SP/Escort industry of such deceit and shallowness!! They just want to be more attuned to our needs and wants. Now you're going to make all the agencies/SP's/indies suspect if they announce something like a $10 donation to the Haitian relief effort for every paid hour.

Well, let's see. There have been two contests recently. One is by Melina and she's an advertiser, so that's not free advertising. The other one was also by an advertiser, so that wasn't free advertiser.

The only poll I've seen recently that was started by a provider is one by MontrealGirlfriend. They're advertisers, so that's not free advertising.

The last GT was organized by Yzabelle and Eva, both of whom are paid advertisers. Nope, no free advertising there.

So, I guess the answer would be no. Neither thinly-disguised, nor free. What then is the point of this silly poll other than to torch a little bandwidth?

Rumples is correct.

Basically what we have is marketing and support strategies that vary amongst paying advertisers. Some prefer to simply pay for the ads and stay in the background while some interact with the community in a fashion that suits their goals and reflects their qualities.

is anyone else finding that these are just thinly-disguised ways to get free advertising for providers?

Hello YVO,

"Are announcements of parties, polls & contests just a way to get free advertising"...NO! Are they free advertising? YES. What's your point and your goal???

Currently Melina and Lindsay are offering a free duo; a fantasy opportunity that many have dreamed of and many cannot or have a hard time affording otherwise. The parties offer everyone a chance to meet the ladies person to person and see in the flesh if we like them and click with them rather than having to pay for someone without having a much better idea if the lady chosen is suited to the client. The polls, like my "Best GFE of 2009" poll provide information by consensus in which ladies might be the best to meet. When the ladies participate on this board through their posts we also get a much better idea if they are someone we might be interested in. So overall we are getting a lot more information we could otherwise only get more limitedly through reviews (which may not be available) or through back door contact with other hobbyists who may not have the same tastes or perspectives that we do, and/or very rare opportunities we might miss if it wasn't posted on this board.

All of these parties, polls, and contests are giving us something valuable back above the effect of being free advertising. Aren't reviews doing the same anyway, and aren't reviews and the information they give the purpose of the board. Then, if your point is to stop all of these "free advertising" strategies you allude to you will be denying clients opportunities to get more information, meet hot young women before they take the risks that an appointment will work out, and never have an opportunity for FREE FANTASY SEX! Isn't that JUST a bit self-defeating...or is the absolute purity of the rules, as some may want, more important?

So, is all of this JUST free advertising...NO! Should it all be stopped because it essentially skirts the rules if putting out your name at all is in effect free advertising? IMHO...let Fred and the mods, or those here who have never been hobbyists worry about the perfect purity of the rules. Frankly the extra information we hobbyists get out of this is helpful...and I always vote in favor of FREE SEX every time this referendum comes up on the ballot...lol.

Now, I will probably make some free advertising by getting to that review I have been meaning to write for a long time.

Cheers,

Merlot

could have sworn there was a limit to how many posts/day. But hey, as CSM said, I'm cynical. Maybe these 'marketing' deals should go into the advertising threads then.

I think the rule is 1 thread per day, not one post.

So if I hear you right, what you're objecting to is:
1. Agencies and Indys updating their information more than once a day. I take it then, that if an agency posts its daytime schedule at 9 am, you'd rather not learn from them later in the day who is working the night shift.
2. Agencies and Indys giving away their services as a promotional tool.

My friend, if you object to the above, my guess is that you're in a mighty small club.

The rule for advertiser is 2 post per day as far as publicity goes, in the advertiser's section. It can be 2 threads with one post or 1 thread with 2 posts. The goal is to allow day/evening schedule announcement but it doesn't have to be that way

Advertisers are still welcome to participate in the forum's life, as long as they don't use these participation to blatantly do some publicity.

As far as the polls and contests, it's still debatable.

Contest do give back to the members so we don't look at them in such a bad way but, as the SAQ is saying, "La modération a meilleur goût".

As far as polls, we will look into the situation and listen to the member's suggestions.

Our hope is the advertisers will learn to pace themselves and not go overboard. If we see a tendency for the board to become a contest board or a publicity poll, we will be left with no other option than implement new rules. That decision will come from the Mods, the administrators and the member's opinions.

Hmmmm,

Some "marketing strategies" are just ploys and some give something back that members would otherwise have no chance to receive or experience. The difference between the ploy and the genuine rare offer that gives something back is not difficult to distinguish. Reasonable people know the difference and forcing everything into conforming to absolute rules is not what good customer service or this board should be about.
