Process of Elimination

Hmm...interesting development, but the fact that the one witness to the last moments of Wright and Kraynak is now dead, probably means that we won't learn anything new about the case.

Learning something new may not be necessary.

Seems like all the "old" Sirard conspiracy theories have been debunked as well as those of conflict with the other patrons.

It seems like this sad event may well confirm what most of us can speculate to be the most likely scenario that led to the deaths of Kraynak and Wright.

Kraynak and Wright likely stiffed the cabbie, he chased them (perhaps with a gun), they ran in the dark and scaled the fence which had warning signs in French but not English about the quarry, Kraynak and Wright, assuming that they even saw the warning signs in the dark which is questionable, were Americans who probably did not read or understand French, they then jumped the fence and ran in the dark over the precipice unaware of the cliff and the quarry surface far below, and fell in the dark to their unfortunate deaths, their bodies not to be discovered for another 11 days or so.

At one time either Kraynak's or Wright's family reportedly retained a top civil trial lawyer in Montreal to look into a lawsuit sounding in negligence againt the Red Light and/or the company or companies who maintained the surrounding fence and the quarry. Does anyone know whether a lawsuit was ever brought or if there was perhaps a quiet settlement?

Has anyone been by this area lately? Has the fence or the warning signs been changed in any way?

It's not in the type of area where you would notice any changes unless you made a special effort to do so. People normally just zoom by in there cars.

If only I knew...
Something must be clear, let's not mix language issues in here. If I go to Germany, I don't expect French signs. There's no way anybody can expect English signs in Quebec, sorry.

A fence is a fence, no matter if you speal English or French, if you're American or Canadian. It's intended to keep peoples away from something. No need for signs to know you should not jump a tall fence, it's common sense: the fence it there for some reason and you don't need to know why it's there to respect that fence. Whoever decide to do away with the warning (the fence itself) do so at his own risk. These 2 weren't children, they were presumably responsible adults.

There's limits to what somebody can do to protect others from their own stupidity. What's next? Somebody will say they won't respect any signs in Quebec because their mother tongue is Arab and all is in French and they don't understand so, it doesn't apply to him?

Then why were there warning signs in French on the fence? Perhaps because local kids had been sneaking in there at night? They got the protection. Kraynak and Wright did not. And this is not me talking, it's their attorney who already made this statement. I assume he knows more than the rest of us about why the signs were there.

Just because you don't like the issue does not mean that it isn't an issue.

EDIT: Wait a minute, you said your speculation was the most likely scenario, that to me sounds like you're jumping to conclusions.

Everything is probably true except for the gun. We're not all that gun happy up here EB. Thankfully. One thing as well, even if the signs had of been in English as well, I doubt that the guys would have stopped to read it while they were being pursued and you can't really expect that a sign would be on each section of fence as well. Unfortunately they were the unwitting authors of their own demise when they ran off on that taxi driver without paying their fare. Shit happens, as we all know.

Then why did they run? Kraynak and Wright were young, strong and muscular and could take care of themselves in physical confrontations according to their families. You really think these guys were spooked by a taxi driver who wasn't packing? He had some weapon. They ran for a reason.

Yea, because they stiffed the driver.
