Apologies if this has been asked or should be posted in a different section.

How do clients from the US handle deposits? My cash app doesn’t allow for international transfers and CC has been rejected when trying to do Canadian gift cards. Are there any other methods that have been successful?

I’m trying to coordinate a trip and have a few providers I’d love to reach out to but all require a deposit. I also want to respect their rules so don’t want to reach out until I have a solution figured out.

Thanks!

Where are you trying to buy the gift cards? Was it Amazon.ca?

Otherwise with fees Western Union or MoneyGram.

I think the best option is to ask them personally what they’d accept as an alternative. Only them know

I was trying to save some time on their part and do my homework beforehand. I could then hopefully look at their site and see if a preferred deposit option is available to me.

Confirmed it was Amazon.ca. Do other sites work?
Gift cards over 100$CA are usually flagged and most likely rejected when bought on Amazon.ca. If you tried an higher amount, you should try splitting the amount on a few gift cards over a few hours and see how it goes.

Otherwise, providers ask different gift card cards depending on their current needs, and they don't necessarily mention them on their website. Your credit card might work with the gift card she chooses.

Others have a Throne account, which would be a way for you to send a deposit if the provider accepts this method.

I know Paysend is a way to send a kind of e-transfer USA-CA. I know some providers received them with success recently, but I don't have more information on how it works.

In the end, providers you want to see will tell you their preferred method but they should have a way figured out for americans. We don't have a lot of options anymore for you guys.

Throne will take a substantial percentage and would require her to setup the cash "item".

There is also Paypal but depending of your level privacy it might not work

It’s usually not a good idea to just decide without asking them. Sometimes I receive gift cards I’ve never asked for and I have no use for it’s disappointing and a waste of money

Sorry, I’m not sure how it would be “without asking” them if it’s specifically mentioned on their website? If they have it listed, wouldn’t it be acceptable and show I actually read through something that required time and effort to put together?

I think there was a misunderstanding that you might buy a card not listed but which is working for you :)
