^^^^^^

Quebec energy*production*is*basically limited to electricity and biomass.*Fossil fuels are*not produced and*are*therefore imported. Electricity*is*the most-used form of*energy*inQuebec*(40%), followed closely by*oil*(39%) and natural gas (13%)

Quebec harvests minerals, this process uses lots of fossil fuels.
One fifth of Canada's*mining*output comes from*Québec. ... The main metals*mined*are, in decreasing order of shipment value, gold, iron, nickel, titanium, niobium, copper and zinc. In addition:*Québec*is one of the rare producers of niobium, titanium dioxide, cobalt and platinum in the world.

Am not a leftwing nut by any means but I realized something recently: fossil fuels will be done soon.

Climate change and the environment are a good reason but the reality is low cost renewables (whose cost keeps coming down) as well as ever better electric cars and trains, etc. are the game changer. It won’t be a big bang just a slow death with some projects succeeding but fewer and fewer. A lot of that oil especially tar sands will never be harvested. Sucks to hear but it is reality.

Alberta has a great economy with skilled workers. It will get over it :)

Completely agree. They didn’t diversify their economy during good times. They did cut taxes instead. Before good times, they were heavily subsidized...
Now, what should they know is that after Enbridge pipeline has been reversed, the majority of Quebec crude now come from North America. Albertan crude is so low quality that suncor and Valero has to mix it before refining.
I would bet my 10$ on Québec economy instead of Alberta for upcoming years.
