Is anyone else tired of hearing about those new euphemisms? They originated from TikTok to go around the strict censorship but now they have spread to other social media. I’m sorry (not really) but they’re so lame. I think people have started using them as to not trigger potential victims and their families but I feel like it does not help the causes. It sounds unserious and those are serious things that we should be talking about with respect and by using the right terms. Here are some examples:

Unalived = killed
Grape = rape
Gardening = smoking weed
Unhoused = homeless
Corn = porn
Seggs = sex
Ahh = ass

Only came across corn and seggs but I assumed it's to workaround keyword censorship. Especially those click bait reels or short videos to generate a maximum a views .

For the rest never heard and agree with you that it is downplaying and minimizing its importance whereas at the first place it shouldn't.

It's not just the internet, but people adapt to the needs of the day, in whatever medium. Remember how so many people hated textspeak and emojis before? Actually the stuff you're talking about, while annoying, bothers me less than people saying "bro" or "bruh" all the time. Or possibly the all time stupidest slang term ever, "situationship". What's even worse is that with the popularity of Love Island we're having to incorprate and adapt to stupid british slang on top of that.

Anyway, the point is that this stuff is all transient and will be blown away shortly to be replaced by something else, over and over again.It's all so inevitable that we might as well not worry about it and just sail blissfully through the waves of bullshit until we get to our final destination.

Especially because only one of them calls it that, the other simply doesn’t care enough to label it

I thought most of these were because the algo would pick them up and flag them for obscenity and it just stuck after. Either way it’s inevitable that you will hate how generations after you speak, just like your (grand)parents did with your generation. Sign of getting old unfortunately
