What's your top 5? (you're allowed one 'honorable mention')

Here's mine, in no particular order:

An American Christmas Carol
White Christmas
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
A Christmas Carol (with George C. Scott)
Miracle on 34th Street (1947 version)

Honorable mention:

What a Wonderful Life

A Christmas Story
A Christmas Carol (George C. Scott)
;):D

I forgot that one!! Miracle on 34th Street is one of my ATFs!!! I'll switch one of my picks for that one.....i prefer the first version, although i enjoyed the tv movie version from the 70's with Sebastian Cabot & David Hartman, which was the first time i had seen this story.

Which version did you prefer?

I was about to download it & just saw that they also had a colorized version from that 1947movie.....think i'll stick with the black & white version.

B&W = much better.:D

Forgot my Honorable Mention(often overlooked as a Christmas movie):
Donovan's Reef ;)

I just finished watching "Four Christmases" and to my surprise, it's actually a very good & very funny movie!! Stars Vince Vaughn & Reese Witherspoon. Loved the cameo by Peter Billingsley who played the kid in "A Christmas Story".

You named some good ones that takes me back.

Le Père Noël est une ordure is pretty high on my list.

But in the recent years, the one movie I'm looking forward to see during the Xmas season is Fight Club.
It keep reminding me to keep things simple.

I LOVE Scrooged, that scene with Bill Murray in the sewer gets me everytime. It's just so funny with all the insane stuff that happens (I can never look at a stapler the same way:), and the last 5 minutes is so moving and funny...

I also LOVE It's A Wonderful Life, it"s just an amazing film and my absolute favorite Jimmy Stewart performance EVER. Oddly enough, I find the last 5 minutes to be TOO schmaltzy and sometimes threatens my overall enjoyment of the film. I find if I have a couple of beers beforehand that it increases my tolerance for the excess saccharine therein.

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE X-MAS. Chuck Jones, Boris Karloff. A classic.

(oh yeah, Doc asked for 5 X-mas films...ok, I'll add:
-Gremlins ...(lol, it even has Chuck Jones in a cameo)
- It's a Charlie Brown Christmas...the end when all the kids transform an anorexic tree branch into a respectable tree, thereby rescuing a broken-hearted Charlie Brown is amazing stuff...

I just finished watching 'Bad Santa' and i don't get all the fuss of why people would put this depressing movie on their top 5 list.

Three other movies i would put on my list, if there was room for them, would be "Black Christmas", "Going My Way" and "The Christmas Tree".

Any of the South Park Christmas episodes. especially season one. Mr. Hanky is kind of gross but at the same time pretty funny.

I'm a Billy Bob Thornton fan dating back to Sling Blade. I think I have enjoyed just about every movie he has made. He made me chuckle a bit in Bad Santa. I hope you didn't rush out and watch this do to my referral. Watch "Sideways" instead. You will like this one.
