Best movie filmed in Mtl (with honorable mention to Quebec City):

Catch Me If You Can (2002), which starred Leo Dicaprio & Tom Hanks. They were staying at the Vogue during filming & i bumped into Dicaprio once in the lobby on my way to the restaurant.

Best sex movie filmed in the Mtl area (possibly in the Laurentians): Anabolic World Sex Tour Vol. 25, which starred among others Kimberly Franklin, Diamond Forever, Tangerine Dream, Erik Everhard, Jon Dough, Lexington Steele & Bobby Vitale.

What was that movie Angelina made in Mtl where she broke her arm during filming? I think Robert Downey also co-starred....

(I've since remembered it was called "Gothika".)

I agree 'The Bone Collector' was a very good movie. I believe Angelina stayed at the Omni while filming since she walked past me once when i was sitting in the hotel's lobby & the doorman pointed her to me. She had one of her kids with her at the time i saw her & loved visiting the Biodome.

Halle Berry was in "Gothika", not Angelina Jolie.

"...Button" was mostly shot on location in New Orleans and then L.A. They came to Montreal (mostly Old Montreal) for about a week at the end of the shoot to get some exterior shots.

Thanks for the correction in regards to 'Gothika'.

I just did an extensive research on the Benjamin Button movie & it was indeed shot in New Orleans, LA & Mtl.

I think i may have got it mixed up with Changeling (or some other movie) in regards to the Toronto shoot. I remember a recent movie being shot in Black Creek Village....

CS, i just found out that The Aviator indeed had some shots done in Mtl. I didn't find anything in regards to Toronto. My mistake.

To me "shot in" refers to the location where principal photography took place. So for "...Button", that would be New Orleans (and to a lesser extent, L.A.). Of course as CS Martin stated, some films can be shot in multiple locations on multiple continents (Bond films for example) so in that case, you can't pinpoint "shot in" to one location.

And yes, "The Aviator" qualifies because it was mostly shot in la Cité du Cinéma in Montréal from July to October 2003.

FYI "Changeling" was shot in California.

In our Global Society, I'm not sure how many films can be solely attributed to one venue. The 300 reference is quite interesting, assuming the information on its Montreal roots is correct. Think I'll do some research on it this evening. For those of you who want to more fully understand current world affairs, the real history behind this film is a great place to start.
There is no question CS that this was ground breaking technology. The subtleties of the special effects were quite unique. In one sense there was almost a comic book type air about it yet they used very little animation where the actors were concerned. I must confess that I have never seen this kind of twist to production technology before.

Another movie that i liked, which was filmed inside Mirabel airport terminal, was 'The Terminal', starring Tom Hanks & Catherine Zeta-Jones.

They ran it a few nights ago and I watched it. One of the best. Hanks is incredible! And the plot was very profound. Just people and the nobility of the human spirit. Loved it.
