When listening the news, we always hear about the first baby of the year.
Would it be possible to know who is the first merbite to pop after midnight?
Please don't cheat, no champagne bottles aloud...

Happy new year. Have one with a lot of pops :p

PS: I have a date Tuesday AM so I guess I'm pretty much disqualified.:)

Probably not me.....it is the busiest night of the year and not in the popping-off way!

I cant remember the last time i celebrated new years, i like getting up early everyday so i get to be before midnight, not that i sleep but in bed never the less. I wanted to know why we say happy new years, also wanted to know who and when this started. So i googled,
2000 BC

History. The ancient Babylonian calendar was lunisolar, and around the year 2000 BC began observing a spring festival and the new year during the month of Nisan, around the time of the March equinox. The early Roman calendar designated 1 March as the first day of the year.

I just don't get it, its just another day. And resolutions, why do it on this day? Just do it whenever you feel the need or when and if something becomes problematic.

I just cant see in the beginning of time, a caveman coming out of his cave and saying to his neighbor, happy new years, what's your resolution today, oh i think i go and find wife, drag her down to river and take her like dinosaur, how about you, oh i go and learn how to make fire.

My last resolution was in January of 2002, i wanted to quit smoking, by July 4th i was cigarettes' free. I had slowly started to quit, i was doing good and in June i was not smoking anymore but on July 1st my dog caught on fire, its okay it wasn't as bad as it sounds. We were hanging out in my gazebo and we had citronella bucket candles going to keep the bugs away. Well one bucket was on the floor, we smelled hair burning and i look down and my dog was standing over the bucket, i ran over to the hose and of course my dog thought i was playing with him and he was chasing me, which was a good thing, we hosed him off and he didn't realize it, he just tried to bite the hose. I still don't understand how he didn't feel the burning on his underbelly.

After checking him for damage, next words out of my mouth were, give me a fuc..... cigarette, and so i smoked until July 4th and quit again.

Quit smoking? Oh yes. Since that day. Don't touch those cancer sticks anymore. Also had to quit smoking pot in 2019, my lungs are shot, my doctor told me to get edibles, but I'm old school, not the same. Mentioned also, the drops under your tongue, just not the same. I liked rolling a fat blunt and relaxing. Its just more social to sit around and chat while passing the blunt around.

Aw, the good old days, i just cant see someone in their 20s today saying the same thing in 40 years.

I did quit 14 years ago in my early 40s because I began hobby and I didn't want to have a hart stroke in a motel with an SP. Ha!Ha!

Well, this July will be 22 years for me, its hard to say if i feel better, but i did save a major amount of money. Back then it was about 3000$ a year and as of today, i couldn't tell you, not sure what a pack goes for today. But like anything else, we find somewhere else to spend it, and here i am on merb , so i guess i know where the money goes these days.

Its a good investment, I can see the returns right away. Ha Ha;)

I probably was the first one to get puked on by a chick! No, it’s not a fetishism, neither a provider. Just my sister’s bestie who smashed herself way early in the evening.

It's a better investment.. ;).. exercise, keep in shape and gain memories. Same dopamine reaction, but 1 is definately longer lasting, and healthier for you.

I quit nicotine like 13 years ago... Mary-Jane on the other hand... depends. I dramatically cut down recently. I relied on it greatly to ease social anxiety, and slowed me down enough to be more relatable to talk with, as I would often express myself more like 'Sheldon' when I spoke with people, unintentionally speaking in a way, kind of a know it all, but not in a braggy way, just... it was a benifit to connect with people and talk to them on a more relatable lvl...
