Yeah, that Ledbury area of town is one of the roughest. But what you are reading here about the recruitment of young girls in Ottawa barely touches the surface. There is a whole network of pimps and lowlifes behind the scenes. They are violent and will even go into the schools to recruit. They just have the youngest looking member of their stable enrol for purposes of recruiting. Insidious! Like most cities there are different levels of this activity.

Sex slaves are referred to as resalable resource that never gets used up, at least not physically. And it's far from being exclusive to girls. I saw an expose some months ago where an older man was looking at photos of boys at lunch in an open air cafe somewhere in southeast Asia (Thailand I think) and being so openly deviant as to lick his lips and pant at individual photos in public. It was about as repugnant to see as anything could be. But maybe the hard part to fathom for all of us because of our revulsion is that this is not new at all. It's ancient in fact. We find it frightening not just for the vileness of the act, but because despite all of the vices in society today we still tend to think human beings have evolved somewhat. But this is what humans are still capable of: enslaving others for profit. Most frighteningly is the specter that it can be a profit for a "lifetime"...and reports say the industry is exploding.

We have evolved in our ability to communicate, to share information and track such activities. Unfortunately one of the dark sides of human nature is that the same technology is used by deviants for their own purposes.

I did almost get stoned many years ago after reading some (surprisingly detailed) reviews of sp and suggested to open a board for us girls to review the men. Nothing detailed but more like a blacklist of bad clients and personal infos only given by pm. Not a fun experience at all.

From my experience, the infos never go overboard either. It always stays along the lines : "Mr. Xyz, very nice, nothing negative to say about him".

Of course that's because we are lucky enough to meet many really nice people. Otherwise, I am sure there would be novels written about a man's case, just like CA did to warn people by writting is deboires with Celine on this board.

Gatineau police spokeswoman Const. Isabel Poirier said all three victims were vulnerable 17-year-olds recruited near supportive housing for young women and women's shelters in downtown Ottawa.

I know of at least one Montreal escort who was recruited in exactly this fashion in NDG, by yes, you guessed it, a member of a Jamaican gang, while she was well under-age.

Might not be a bad idea. Why should an sp have to go through dealing with a jerk or worse. And we wonder why some of the new ones get turned off the whole thing. It just has to be good all around if an sp comes in relaxed and feeling safe. She should be able to enjoy the work as well as get paid for it. Or did I miss a step here?

I'm not against the idea either but it would be very simple if they'd simply exchange their email addresses among one another & contact one another via MSN & maybe start up an MSN chatgroup where they could meet up & talk business. But first & foremost i'd simply suggest to them to set up a contact list with their colleagues within the community.

Agreed. I kind of had it in my mind that when she said "board" it would be an exclusive forum that would be accessible to sp's. An MSN chatgroup would probably accomplish the same thing. I don't know how efficient e-mail networking would be among them. It is discouraging to hear when a young sp new to the business suffers disillusionment at the hands of some a**h*le. Enough experiences like that and you can bet her attitude towards men will not be the best. It's goodbye GFE and hello basic service (if that).
