Really not sure the Leafs fan had the same mentality as ours, with the hockey fan base down there and the corporate presence, pretty sure they could ve have two teams shall the leafs ve been more competitive. They lost fans i m sure...Did they really have fans that tought of slight chances to get in the playoff and make a run (Take the last two seasons out since they are now competitive just because of some obvious Top Guns)?
OMG enough talking of the Leafs, i
Point being never compare MTL fans to Leafs fan.Please...dont. ;)

The habs winning such games isn't really a good thing if you look at the big picture.

They'll still likely miss the playoffs this season (4 out of the past 5 years) and every win gives them a weaker draft selection.

The worse thing is to miss the playoffs and end up selecting outside the top 10. That's not how you turn franchises around. You need to pick top 3 and make the right selection. Making the right selection is the key.

But maybe it doesn't make that much of a difference considering they chose Jesperi Kotkaniemi with the 3rd overall selection two years ago instead of the highly-touted Brady Tkachuk. They literally gave the rival Ottawa Senators a gift by allowing them to select him!

No knock on Kotkaniemi. He's still a very good prospect. But at best he was projected to be a mid-first round selection prior to the draft. The pick surprised many!! Let's just say that when you are picking 3rd overall and you're set on drafting Jesperi Kotkaniemi then maybe you should make a trade with a team further down the list in order to pick your player on top of picking up more picks/prospects with the trade. Don't kid yourself: Jesperi Kotkaniemi more than likely would have still been available in the middle round.

3 win on 4 game out west. I cannot remember the habs having such a successful road trip out west since 1978 ;)

Tatar and Danault were brilliant. Susuki is very impressive! 48 shots on goal the jets were completely flat and dominated.

For once no need for miracle from Price to win.

The best thing that could happen to the habs is if they lose every single game from now until the end of the season. But it won't happen. What will happen is they'll once again miss the playoffs for the 5th time in the past 6 years. What will happen is that they'll get a mid-first round pick. But it doesn't matter since they'd probably blow an top 3 pick anyway. The name 'Brady Tkachuk' will haunt the organization for years to come. KK is a decent prospect but he was slotted in the #17 overall position on the majority of NHL teams' draft list. Everyone except the habs had Tkachuk as a top 3 overall selection. Also what will happen is that Marc Bergevin will finally be let go and probably Claude Julien also since the new GM will want to have his own coach behind the bench. But truth is that it starts at the top and not that much will change as long as Geoff Molson continues to act as the team's president. That position needs a real hockey guy.....not the team owner.

They'll lose again tonight. And they'll probably win the next game or two and then lose again and again. Get used to it. Is the GM really trying to avoid losing? Probably. But the optics aren't good when once again the team isn't using the entire cap money it has on hand. I'd understand if the organization was in financial trouble or if they were winning. But this isn't the case. When the GM is operating like he's in a small market when it's not you can't expect miracles to happen. Sad that this once extremely proud organization has sank so low!

By the way, guess who's the hottest team the league? Leafs, baby!!! :yo:

Want to know what could turn it around for the habs? If they benched Carey Price & put in Kavan Primeau for the rest of the season.

Carey Price had ONE great season! The year when he won the Vezina and swept most of the trophies handed out to the best goaltender in the league. He's never won a cup. His team has been out of the playoffs more often than not. He's approaching his mid-30's and his best years are well behind him. He's still a very good goalie but half the starting goaltenders in the league are as good if not better than he is! The problem with him isn't necessarily how he performs: it's his big contract, how it hurts the team cap-wise but most importantly: the lenght of his contract. It's due to expire only in 2016! Ouch!!!

Carey Price's value will never be any better than it is now. He's a player on the decline and more & more teams will stay away from him as times goes by. Same thing for Shea Weber. If they can get something of value for those two players the habs should trade them now. What have they got to lose?? They're not going anywhere anyway with them in the lineup!

For sure it is not a bad idea but i d like to see him Carey) do another playoff ride in the HABS jersey, we can t say the habs don t score goals in front of him for the last 2 years.
We have cap space, lets get a D and an F trade some of our Espoires and make the best out of it.
Anything goes we will still be in the run comes trade deadline as always and Price and others have shown they can do great things.
Je suis un croyant et je me joindrai pour les marches de l oratoires si ca peut aider, peut etre avec des genouilleres ;)

Price is 37th in the NHL in save %, exactly what about that stat does not tell you he is sucking monkey dick:

http://www.espn.com/nhl/statistics/player/_/stat/goaltending/sort/savePct/year/2020/seasontype/2

Look at Price's stats, they clearly show a player on his decline. His save % well below his career average 2 of the last 3 years, and this year has been the 2nd worst of his career:

https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/p/priceca01.html

He has led the NHL in minutes played the last 2 years, so he has been more durable than expected, but he also has not been good. What is the point in being durable when you are also sucking monkey penis? I guess you could say those are minutes where you don't have to play a much weaker backup goalie, but if that is the best argument you got, then it's a lost cause.

It amazes me reading this thread that Montreal is paying a guy a superstar's salary in return for which they are getting back-up goalie stats, and the fanboys in this thread don't have the slightest bit of shame over it. You all should be paying it and maybe tickets will be jacked up so that you will have to.

Following tonites loss (against the Hurricanes), that will be ''it'' for Carey. Bergerien and his baboons will try to salvage their jobs and honor and convince Princess, to wave his no trade clause and unload him. Get bigger, get tougher bring back ''ol' time hockey.

He ain’t no” saint Patrick” . Good stats , or record breaking stats it don’t matter ,,, for me that’s not what defines great goalies

Price ain’t going nowhere... unfortunately :(

But the one who’s been sucking Monkey dick the most , well thst has to be Bergevin . He’s been given plenty of opportunities and soon they might need to clean up house ... again

Or maybe the reason Habs GM’s can’t fill the holes is because the highly skilled free agents just don’t want to sign and play in this city

I would not be so harsh on Bergevin. If you look at the team right now beside Gallagher all players worth to watch on the ice were results of his trade... Susuki, Domi, Drouin, Tatar, Arnia, Weber and of course Danault.

And yes star free agent player just wont come to Montreal. The pressure and weak dollar does not help.

Where the Habs REALLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYY sucks is their draft picks. They should have replace their whole recruiting team long ago!

p.s. it's not over guys... ti-paul byron will be back and then the team will start to win :)
