Some propose playing ARBER as a forward, not a crazy idea.

There is zero chance that St-Louis plays Wifi in tomorrow’s game. There is also zero chance that he’ll ever put him on the wing this season. He has never played him there in the past & the playoffs aren’t the time to start experimenting. Plus where would you put him? The third & fourth lines were probably the top lines all night long! The second line was invisible! Laine sucked & Demidov was invisible! He probably had brown stains in his underwear after the game & he’s not alone! Suzuki played a strong game but the Habs star of the game was Sam Montembault. Were it not for him the score would have been 8-0 after two periods! By the way i think Lane Hutson is clearly out of his element in this series however he’s not alone. Mike Mathison was absolutely terrible all night long yet St-Louis keeps playing him 25+ minutes a game!

First NHL playoffs game ever, I think he wasnt alone to feel a bit lost. But of all the green horns on the habs team, I think he’s the one that is more likely to bounce back strong. I expect him to make a few Caps players look like orange cones tomorrow, Washington are not known for their speed.

Playoff are all about goaltending. Roy did the same game after game and players in front of him gained so much confidence. Same for Bennington and tons of goalies in playoff. He doesn’t have choice to deliver and I find him pretty good at it.
Now Caps knows they can beat them even if they give their best shot. It’s playing in their heads.

Another great third period! Incredible goaltending on both sides! Laine finally benched! Good since he’s been hurting his team more than anything out there! But in the next game if they decide not to dress him who do you have to replace him? Pezzeta? No way! Kapanen? Maybe. He can’t play worse. That’s the biggest problem with the habs: massive lack of depth.

Xejak should be in the lineup. His presence alone would be a great asset. Way too many liberties are being taken with the team’s smaller players! And what does Struble bring that Xejak wouldn’t bring? Nothing! First line played well & can’t complain with the 3rd & 4th lines. Actually the 3rd line was their nest line tonight. Once again the 2nd line was terrible & a big reason for this is Laine. Newhook also can’t win a faceoff. He’s good if he’s not relied upon to take the faceoff but that’s a major problem. Maybe they should let any other player on hos line take the faceoffs. What do they have to lose? He doesn’t win them anyway!

Monty & Thompson had great games. But the Habs don’t deserve to win if they can’t play for 60 minutes. Having great third periods just doesn’t cut it!

Tonight they were off the blocks at the starting gun, but the second period was a bit slack. That lucky goal was a big downer but Monty didnt let it ruin his focus, he goaled a heck of a game tonight.

Newhook isn't a true Center player. I don't think he played center in his former team.
Struble plays OK but ERBER should play perhaps as a forward.
In the good old times, Pierre Bouchard played forward sometimes to put some respect in the other team defencemen.

You can’t rebuild a second line during playoff…
Sorry but i used to coach & it’s possible. You just move around a couple of players like the Leafs the other night when they switched Max Domi with Pontus Holmberg on the 2nd line. The big problem right now is that Newhook couldn’t win a faceoff if his life depended on it. When you regularly lose the faceoff it means that you spend 30-45 seconds chasing the puck & by the time you get it back it’s time to get off the ice. The other huge problem on that line is Patrick Laine. Laziest player on the ice & he’s a turnover machine. He scored most of his goals on the powerplay & now he can’t score mostly because the set play has become too predictable. Demidov played a good game last night & i’d pit him on the #1 pp unit instead of Laine & i’d move Caufield back to his regular spot on the left circle.

Savard has been terrible in this series. He’s on his last legs. Struble hasn’t been much better. He had one hit in game 1 & zero hits last night. One of these two could easily be scratched from the lineup in favor of Wifi. Hutson played much better last night & so did Mathison. I re-watched the game this morning & was impressed by the habs’ effort in the first & third periods. But once again Monty was fantastic & so was Thompson. The habs had several great chances to tie it but were robbed by Thompson or simply ran into some bad luck. As for Monty he couldn’t do anything on the two goals. One goal deflected off Savard’s skate & the other one was a bit of a flukie goal.

I’m convinced that the habs can win the next two home games but i really hope Wifi is in the lineup. I’d like to add that many will say that Laine should be taken out of the lineup however i think he’ll stay in because they don’t really have anyone to replace him. No Oliver Kapanen or Pezzetta aren’t the answer.
