Unfortunately it looks like Newhook skated into a trap and then had the puck poked away by Timo Meier, who had roofed Dobes for the tying goal on a play in which it looked like Meier saw the puck before Dobes did:

Some Habs players are starting to show serious numbers in the stats column.

Besides the obvious Suzy and Caufield, our pair of rookies are battling for the Calder, Demidov with 13 points and Kapanen with 6 goals! And now Newhook and Dach with respectively 6 and 5 goals. If these 2 are starting to, finaly play to the expectations due to their rank sélections, fans at the Bell Center can hope for a lot of fun nights.

The rest of the league will have to consider the Habs as one of the hardest team to play against.

Team ranking is good at the moment. First in division. Second in Eastern Conference. Third in the league.

Individual stats are also very good for many.

The current management team have put together a very good young core that has gotten/is getting experience and growing together. I think they are getting closer to being a Stanley Cup contender. I think they will be very good for the next 6-10 years.

I think next year will be their first real shot at it. Hugues will have hire a 2nd solid, veteran center by then. And maybe some more weight for the 4th line.

Dobes is #4 among NHL goalies in the all important save % stat and the Habs need to stop splitting time between him and "Monty" and install Dobes as the main man goalie getting the lion's share of the starts:

Its crazy to hear the buzz against Monty. His stats aren't great since he got injured and sure he's giving up too many bad goals early and even removing 2 goals doesn't give habs the win anyways. The way the rest of the team is collapsing hard whenever they lose their tempo is like watching a kid collapse when after his ego got checked. They need to learn to bounce back fast and play hard all 3 periods.

Also, our wins were against teams that didn't make the playoffs last year, except for the Senators (OT without Tkachuk). All others, Habs got spanked. Fans are being overly really excited because we're beating teams we're supposed to win against (with lots of OT). We crumble when facing elite lines.

We're going to know the reality of it between now and the end of the year as we confront most of last year's cup contenders (some of which aren't doing too well this year).

I love seeing how they are developing but they still have quite the uphill battle and a lot to improve.

I also agree... next year should be the real thing.

Never forget they just got of a rebuild. Time is on their side. I would say next decade will be the real thing.
All I hope is direction (Gorton-Hughes-MSL) will be maintained during all this time.
Hope Hughes and Bobrov continues to pull out rabbits of their hats and MSL gets the most of them.
For the rest, let’s hope for the best.
I wouldn’t say the C word yet like probably some Leaf fans did…

Pensez-vous que Suzuki devrait prendre un petit break, juste pour se rétablir comme il faut?

C'est beau son record de gars qui ne manque jamais de matchs, mais là il doit sauter des entrainements. Et mardi contre LA y'avait pas trop de cohésion sur le PP, je crois que une des raisons est qu'il est ralentit. Pas la seule évidemment, mais il ne semble pas à 100%. Moi je lui donnerais un p'tit break un match ou deux.

C’est évident que Suzuki est ralenti par une blessure, ça fait 3 entraînements qu’il saute pour subir des traitements. Sauf que la blessure ne doit pas être si compromettante sinon l’équipe médicale le mettrait au repos forcé.

Donc la décision de jouer ou non lui revient et, pour le moment il est p-e moins efficace mais sa contribution est loin d’être négligeable. Le jour où il sentira qu’il nuit plus qu’il ne contribue, il va prendre la bonne décision. Je ne crois pas qu’il accorde beaucoup d’importance à sa séquence d’Iron Man.

Bon c'est pas joli, et c'est clair qu'on allait pas toutes les gagner en prolongation, mais faut redresser la barre. Des blessures ça arrive, faut vivre avec.

C’est sûr, surtout que l’équipe est passablement jeune mais, il y a quand même des joueurs qui en sont à leur 3ième saison et plus.

MSL a déjà dit que cette saison en serait une où il exigerait plus de responsabilités et de constance. Ce qui devrait se refléter sur le temps de glace accordé. Jusqu’à date, on ne voit pas trop de conséquences vis à vis certains joueurs comme Slaf, entre autres.

Suzuki est clairement diminué, son % sur les mises en jeu hier est, de loin, parmi ses pires soirées. Les autres centres n’ont pas su s’élever et prendre la relève, Jake a connu une soirée misérable en général.

Carrier et Hutson n’ont rien fait de bon lors des 2 derniers matchs, après Matheson et Dobson, le meilleur défenseur a été Xhekaj qui, d’ailleurs, a joué plus de 15 minutes hier. Je crois que c’est une première pour lui.

Les nouvelles venant de l’équipe médicale sont catastrophiques, chirurgies pour Newhook (4 mois) et Guhle (6-8 semaines).

Rappel de Davidson qui, a peut être bien fait jusqu’à présent à Laval mais, il a zéro match en LNH! De plus, c’est loin d’être un costaud, 5’11" 187 lbs. La réalité c’est que le club n’a pas vraiment de profondeur. La suite des choses ne s’annonce pas très positive.
