I'm not surprised because HP announced on Thursday that they are killing off their Palm webOS mobile system and devices and will explore their options for selling off the business. They're also planning to follow the lead of IBM and get out of the PC business in the next 12 to 18 months to focus on software and enterprise solutions. So it looks like a wholesale liquidation of all remaining stock of their touchpads. I checked around and there doesn't seem to be any left to be found in the Montreal area but I'll check with my supplier tomorrow to see if I can get my hands on anything. At $149 for a 32Gig, I'd pick one up for sure. The only problem is that if HP are getting out of the biz altogether, there's not much chance of anyone bothering to develope any apps for the thing unless another company picks up the WebOS and continues to develope it. So if anyone does buy one, be aware that app support will be limited. It wouldn't surprise me to see someone port Android over to these devices in the future though so it could be worth the risk to pick one up.

Future Shop also has the same type of sale going on. Only 'in store' sales are accepted. No online sales. This sucks since i'm not close to any Future Shops/BestBuy stores. However, many i've checked don't even have them i stock anymore.

I checked both my local FS and BB this morning and both said they sold out before 9 AM yesterday. When I left BB, the sales staff were walking around with 8x10 photocopies taped to their shirts that said "HP touchpad is sold out!". I guess they were tired of being asked about them.

The BestBuy on Tachereau still has some left.

I wonder if HP computers will also be greatly reduced in the near future.....

No, they don't have it even if their web site shows they have. They kind of don't update the inventory as they should.

If only I knew...
I was thinking about making the step until I read this: http://reviews.cnet.com/tablets/hp-touchpad-16gb/4505-3126_7-34499289.html
and this: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-20094232-94/webos-goes-down-in-quiet-death/?tag=rvwBody
and this: http://allthingsd.com/20110816/ouchpad-best-buy-sitting-on-a-pile-of-unsold-hp-tablets/

The good deal might be because there is no deal. BestBuy Canada now advertise the device with the "special" price being the regular price, no more mention of a special. I do not know if I want a device that will be no longer supported in a year or so.

You're quite correct. I also checked Future Shop's website & what was formerly the item's sale price is now its regular price. However, the item in question still isn't available online & my guess is that each store wants to liquidate its inventory of the HP Touchpad.....if they still have any left in stock.
