Well, there are a lot of Irish in the South. It's an ironic tragedy that at the Battle of Fredericksburg in December of 1862, during the American Civil War, Irish regiments of the Union Army hopelessly charged in the open against well entrenched Irish regiments of the Confederacy behind a stone wall at Marye's Heights dying en masse and were cheered proudly for their bravery by those who shot them down.
