Harvard to consider barring former members of the Trump administration from speaking or teaching

A pretty good article about the left-wing McCarthyism that is going on at Harvard right now. The student body would like to bar all former members of the Trump administration from being able to speak or teach at Harvard if they had anything to do with or even supported the Trump administration. They could have a Maoist moment and confess their sins and may be considered to speak.

Last year, the University ousted Dean Ronald Sullivan because he represented Harvey Weinstein. This is McCarthyism pure and simple. What do you think? I think they should defund the university and all universities with maybe the exception of STEM and maybe the trade schools. We need to stop subsidizing students getting a degrees in gobbledygook while taking on six figures of debt with no possibility of employment.

Harvard is self-funded.

I like that you don't know what happened with Sullivan.

The students can petition to not invite whoever they want. Schools choose not to invite people all the time.

Harvard has a lot of means but it definitely benefits from the government - it gets billions of subsidies for research, stafford loans, military training, etc.

just the tax free earning on endowment and land equals $41k per student according to the washington post.

What is funny is that the ultra-left often discusses seizing endowments (tens of billions at harvard alone) to reduce “privilege”. Be careful who your friends are!

I didn't realize they had that sweet a deal on the tax free aspects.

Love it. Let's seize Harvard and break it up and make it a real public institution instead of the networking bullshit zone it is now.

That would be a sensible thing to do and that's why it will not be among the top priorities of the Biden Harris administration.

What about we start with churches? Universities produce scientists who'll save your ass with vaccines. Churches, I'm not sure

I, for one, would appreciate this irony. I would love to see Harvard get their just deserts.

Speaking of irony... The current administration has actually tried to press Princeton after they had discovered lots of systemic racism on their campus. Not that it would go anywhere, of course.

China is already spending massive amounts of money to spread their influence over U.S. Universities and stifle free speech. I certainly agree that Biden/Harris will do nothing to stop China's 'soft power' campaign especially since Biden is the ultimate China puppet.

“COLLEGES AND universities previously failed to report upward of $6.5 billion in gifts from China, Sauid Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and other foreign countries, an ongoing investigation by the Trump administration uncovered.”

You don't have to worry about Trump. he got lots of friends who will invite him to speak, especially Netanyahu, I am sure he will be invited to Tel-Aviv University. He doesn't care about Harvard nor Princeton.
