You should be able to get a 3 star hotel on Priceline in the neighborhood of $65(USD) in the next few weeks, so it is borderline insanity to even consider those deals.

The next few weeks the cheapest avg rate for a room at Delta Montreal is $196 CDN or about $174 US. That is the rate booking directly through Delta. I can't see how it would by possible at all to go from $174 to $65 by using Priceline.

I booked a room at Delta 2 months ago for this month. Delta's rate for the room was about $247 US. I got it at Expedia for $146. I don't know why Expedia had such a deal on it when I was looking, the best rate now for same type of room through Expedia is $208. Out of curiosity I did check later a couple times after booking and it seems only 2-3 rooms were reserved at the rate I got.

I don't like Priceline because the only guarantee is hotel class, not specific hotel, and it's very time-consuming.

You have no idea what you are talking about, because it's been done and I can verify as fact that the Delta is available at $65(USD) (or cheaper) in the next few weeks on Priceline. This was on the FIRST BID dude, so quite possibly it could have been had for cheaper than $65.

If you wish to educate yourself about what an intelligent consumer will pay for hotels on Priceline by bidding in the coming weeks go to:

www.biddingfortravel.com

According to BFT the Delta recently went for $55/night August 6-9, so the guy I know who got it for $65 probably bid too high on his first bid.

I can also verify that someone I know got the Hyatt last week for $65 and another poster in this thread, Firebot (did you read his post above??????) said he just got the Hyatt for $66, all via the bidding method on Priceline. The Hyatt and Delta are comparable hotels in quality although I give the Hyatt the edge due to its amenities.

BTW if the Delta is gotten for $55-$65 on PL, for a $15 upgrade on top of your PL bid price, you can get a bigger room with a balcony which is 4 star calibre. I recommend choosing that option.

Delta Montreal was available last week at $67 during the week on hotwire. The rate would be definitely lower thru priceline.

Even if you book directly with Delta, you should be able to get a lower rate. They are running all kinds of specials. Check their website for promotions.

Two weeks ago I got Delta Centre-Ville for $120 CDN directly from Delta. I booked directly since I have a Delta credit from their frequent guest program which cannot be used thru priceline/hotwire, and that I have never seen Delta Centre-Ville being available thru either priceline/hotwire.

And the Delta Centre Ville is a superior hotel to the Delta Montreal on President Kennedy, which further illustrates that the supposed "cheapest rates" of $174 cited by Big Pickle are, in reality, an UNCONSCIONABLE RIP OFF. Don't believe the bullshit that you read on some of the hotel sites. Because that is what it is, pure and unadulterated bullshit!

Some people in the South Pacific Islands still believe that the Earth is flat too.

I was wondering why this is so last week while i was in town. I used to stay at the Delta CV when i began to hobby seriously. Lovely hotel!!

By the way, many gay guys were staying at the Delta Mtl this past week...i gather they were in town for the OutGames....there were signs everywhere in the lobby advertising the OutGames. Didn't really bother me, but a black guy made a pass at me no more than 10 minutes after i had checked in, soon after he had entered the elevator in which i was in. I thought to myself "Oh boy, this is gonna be a looooooooooong week!!!" I avoided the gym, pool & sundeck for those 5 days!

Since the OutGames have been far from being the success expected & over 10 000 rooms had been put aside for visitors, i figured the rooms last week were cheaper than usual at this time of the year due to the thousands of no-shows.

I like the Delta Centre-Ville too, but one problem (this is from a year ago) is that not all rooms have high speed access.

I stayed at the Delta CV quite a few times before EB turned me on with PL/HW thru one of his threads. Don't think I ever thank him for this yet- Thanks EB.

Delta CV seems to focus more on tour groups than the Delta Mtl, even though I have seen tour groups at both. I prefer Delta CV much more than Delta Mtl.

I have many good memories at Delta Mtl, one of them was holding close on Maude/Astride and looking out the window on Champlain Bridge at night. Thanks for the memory, Maude.
