I agree, but there was a time, long long ago, where feminism and liberalism was very accepting of sex work. Decriminalization of prostitution was believed to be a natural part of The Right to Privacy. How that went away is a matter of debate. Women started earning more in all fields of work, so perhaps the economic admiration that feminists had for what were then referred to as call girls went away. Of course, the leading feminists who were once sympathetic to sex work themselves got older, and in general I think that as women age they are less accepting of a field where relatively younger women have the highest earning power. None of us will ever know quite how or why the left turned around on this issue. I rarely read an opinion piece by a liberal (they now call themselves Progressives, I guess) that is supportive of sex workers or resistant to oppressive government regulation if it were decriminalized. Even good old Bernie backed away from a fine editorial he wrote as a younger man defending pornography when it was under attack from moralists. Bernie said that most porn was what women fantasize about, anyway. I damn near voted for him after reading that, even if he does want to let the young people welch on all their debts.

The only candidate that I heard say something like prostitution is not the governments business was Rand Paul 4 years ago.
