Is this current economic situation affecting your amount of hobbying?

I've definitely been hobbying a lot less this year. I prefer indies so when I looked back at how much I spent last year, I decided to change my habits. Most of that money has been going towards vacationing this year. Same discretionnary spending amount but in a different category.

There is an article in La Presse this morning on the drop in revenue restaurants experienced in 2023: 5-10% on average vs. 2022. I've always thought the sex industry would be affected by similar factors, in particular inflation, the intensity of business tourism and seasonal trends. One important difference is that a good portion of the escort client base is comprised of addicts, which is expected to act as a buffer against a drop in revenue. In addition to that, there might have been social factors post-pandemic that could have led to an increase in demand for escort services.

My beef is more with the price of hotels than with the price of the ladies. Even friends of mine who are very wealthy are complaining about the hotel prices & it’s a big reason why they don’t go to Mtl as much. And the fact that some of the top agencies are strictly or mostly incall is another big reason. And the elevator keycard thing a bit but not as much.

The other day i found one of my hotel receipts from 2011 of one of my last stays at my favorite hotel, Hotel de la Montagne. I had stayed there for a week and paid $69 US per night! I also found another from 2005 when i stayed at the Hyatt & i had paid $62 US. Then another one from 2006 when i stayed at the Vogue for $120 US! Plus i got upgraded for free to their best executive suite on the top floor! I still remember the separate bedroom, the kitchen, dining room, living room area with a long sofa and the two bathrooms where one had a jacuzzi! I also remember one trip where i stayed in Mtl for 15 days. That was around 2002 & i paid $54 US to stay at the Delta Centre-Ville for a few days then went to the one on President Kennedy for a few more days & the next time i called an agency they sent the girl to the wrong hotel thinking i was still staying at that Delta!

Anyways now because of the price gouging on hotels i stay 3 days max. No more 7-15 day trips to Mtl or TO.

Hotel prices worldwide are completely ridiculous. Maybe we do need a recession...

Around the corner
I think everything has skyrocketed in price from hotels to restaurants, food, along with Indy pricing and your pay check has no where near kept up.
The only redeeming factor is GIC went from 1% interest to 5.5% and some stocks have risen also, but that only helps people who actually have money to invest. Real estate prices have dropped but that doesn’t worry me as they always bounce back and I am never in a hurry to sell. I can wait it out.

I haven’t changed my hobbying schedule, if anything I have increased my visits simply because I don’t know how long my health will permit and how long the ladies I have been seeing for a long time and I am friends with will still be active.
The only agency lady I have seen was Heaven and that was in a duo with one of my long time independent favourites.
For now I still find it manageable but obviously like every one else I am not happy with all the price increases.
