You're right, preferences are spawned from without. I spent a few months before this pandemic rolling a die to make decisions about this stuff, and that made it all the more fun. I rolled it to see if I would see an independent, or someone from an agency, hair colour, height, boobs, ethnicity, etc, what I would wear, what I would request, etc etc. Great adventure.
