Child Prostitution and Federal Criminal Law
Child prostitution was specifically addressed in federal criminal law as of 1997. Under these provisions, it became an offence to obtain the prostitution services of a person under the age of eighteen. In addition, it became an offence, subject to a minimum penalty of five years imprisonment, for anyone to use violence or intimidation to get or keep a minor in prostitution.
