Millions....No Billions of $
Not sure who to blame...The Owners or the Players.
If the Owners are willing to Pay the $, then if I’m a Player, yes Please!
When is enough $ enough?

I asked My Friend Google - what is the average salary for mlb players

What is the salary of an MLB baseball player?
According to recent data, MLB players in 2021 earn an average income of $4.17 million, however, the median income of $1.1 million shows a totally different picture.

Here are the highest-paid MLB players after Scherzer, Seager deals

I wouldn’t have minded if the season started in June, to be honest. The baseball season is already way too long.

It’s also a sport that is slowly dying. It’s slow-paced & more & more people are no longer interested in wasting 4 hrs of their lives watching a baseball game every day.

I personally don’t know a single person under the age of 40 who watches baseball. Baseball is still thriving in some markets but there’ll come a day where the current older generations won’t be around anymore & most of the stadiums will be half empty or worse.

There are more & more sports overlapping one another today & people prefer watching a sport that is more entertaining to watch & where the games are under 3 hours.

Voilà autant de raisons---parmi tant d'autres---qui expliquent pourquoi le baseball ne sera jamais de retour à Montréal.

I actually would love to see the Expos return to Montreal. It would be great for the local economy & tourism. However there are too many stumbling blocks for it to happen & for it to work. For one the weaker Canadian dollar will always be a major obstacle in fielding a competitive team. Sure Toronto finds a way to make it work but the Jays have the wealthiest owners in MLB & Toronto is Canada's financial centre. It also has a much larger population.

But for it to work in Montreal people wouldn't go if it's nice outside unless it's an open-air ballpark. And since it's still too cold in April, colder in September, October & let's forget November a retractable roof would be a must. But building a ballpark with a retractable roof costs a lot more money than building a ballpark without one. And the ballpark would have to be close to downtown in order to make it work. Just finding a place to build one now is a project onto itself.

I consider myself to be a big baseball fan. But i was a bigger fan in the 80's & 90's as compared to today. I actually got to know Montreal better because of the Expos. During the 90's & early 2000's i travelled to Montreal frequently to watch a few Expos series every year. During the early to mid 90's the atmosphere at an Expos game was incredible! I was there for that big Expos/Braves series in 1994 when Cliff Floyd hit that dramatic homerun against Greg Maddux in that late June series. However i somewhat lost interest in the 2000's because i knew the Expos were on their way out. And by then i was more a Jays fan than an Expos fan. I got fed up with the Expos always having to get rid of their best players, year after year. And i'll be honest: the 1994 lockout was a biggie! I was so damn disappointed that i would never get to find out if the Expos could have went all the way!

I remember buying tickets for several weekend series during the early 2000's. I'd travel to Montreal and i'd attend the first game of a three game series. I hated the long subway ride to Olympic Stadium. The following day it would be nice & sunny outside & i didn't feel like going all the way to Olympic Stadium to watch an indoor baseball game. And it was a game shown on tv, on top of that! And if i did decide to go i'd usually stay for 5-6 innings & then head back to my hotel & watch the end of the game on tv or head downtown instead & have a drink on a terrasse on Crescent street, watching the babes walk by. Other times i'd simply skip the entire series even though i had already purchased all my tickets.....i figured i'd enjoy myself more while in the company of a cutie or simply spend time outdoors instead of that damn large empty cement swimming pool also known as the 'Big O'.

The Expos would have made the World Series where they would have lost to the NY Yankees 4 games to 1. The Yankees got on a major roll that year and the only thing that stopped them was the lockout. They batted a ridiculous .290 as a team with a .374 OBP, absurd numbers. Paul O'Neill batted .359, Wade Boggs .342, Luis Poloniia .311 and Don Mattingly .304. This lineup couldn't be stopped and wouldn't have been stopped. They started a dynasty in 1994 which would lead to 4 World Series Championships in 5 years (would have been 5 in 6 years if Rivera didn't have the bad luck blown save in the bottom of the 9th in 2001). The Yankees 1994 team was championship ready. They had a ton of good players on that team and really really good hitters.

The Bringer-of-Rain is a Yankee!

Former Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson was traded by the Twins to the Yankees as part of a package which will send enigmatic catcher Gary Sanchez to the Twins.

In other news Freddie Freeman is expected to sign with the small market LA Dodgers after Atlanta made a trade with the A’s for their first baseman Matt Olson. The Yankees are now expected to re-sign Anthony Rizzo.
