Any suggestions for the best currency exchange in central Montreal? I assume a city location would best the airport kiosk?

Girl friend of mine just came back from china.
she travels often ,and said this is best rates she has found

at the airport depends the day the rate and amount you wish to exchange you have to deal with them,
ask at airport but prior get a quote from the number i gave you
as well universal has hard to find money,friend of mine went to Madagascar ,
and universal was the only place we found the currency in the amount needed.good luck.

I usually go to the International Currency Exchange in the Eaton Center. I'm not sure how the rates there compare to others, but it's definitely better than going to my bank. It's very easy to get to from the McGill Metro station.

what I would like to know is where can you get the actual exchange rate? that you can find any day by googling us to canadian exchange rate.
the banks certainly wont give it to you but when I purchase something with my us credit card I get the exact exchange rate when I receive my statement they convert it from canadian to us and I get the exact rate
where do the money exchangers on st catherine , peal and stanley get it . they get the exact exchange rate and that is how they make a profit but where do they get it

As an ordinary, individual consumer, you get the best rate you can. As has been noted here in other threads many, many times, the best place to exchange money is at Calforex on Peel, just south of Ste. Catherine.
