Hey all,

I’ve been a metal head since the 90s and wondering who else on this board shares my passion.

Some great shows coming to mtl starting with tonight with killswitch engaged and anthrax. Then you got stone sour in February and now slayer + lamb of god + behemoth and testament???

I am

Gonna be at Cradle of Filth show and im trying to make it possible to go see Delain as well (2 shows are 10 days apart tough so im not sure yet)

Ill see for Slayer, i used to be a big fan when i was younger, but im not listening to them that much these days. Maybe if there tickets left once the craze pass ill get one but if its fully sold too bad. I saw them in 2009 so im good ;) Also have a live show on DVD.

Huge metal fan. My tastes gravitate towards death, grind & black metal but definitely appreciate thrash bands like Slayer. Haven't bought a Slayer album since Seasons In The Abyss though :p.

Just missed Revenge by a week early last year in Montreal. I may have to go to Edmonton to finally see them because they seem to avoid the East Coast when they play the US. In between hardcore punk and metal, Canada has produced a lot of legendary bands.

I am not a metalhead, because I like all kinds of music lol... I enjoyed metal a lot more before than now. I also have a thing for ska/ska punk & punk music...I have friends who have bands (black metal & punk music), and I've also seen quite a few shows (Slayer, slipknot, System of a down, parkway drive, less than jake, Korn, Iggy Pop, Nofx, Billy Talent, Arch Enemy, Lamb Of God...)

Metal shows are my favorite, love the crowd and vibe usually. I only saw 3 shows that were not metal and the likes actually (snoop dogg, Britney Spears and Fauve)

I flirted with punk & ska for a few years... but I've lost touch.

Deftones and Disturbed are indeed metal. Underground types will probably thumb their noses, which is why Disturbed and such were once derisively referred to as "nu-metal." Calling them "soft metal" is pretty apt because when I'm in the mood for metal-lite, I listen to that because sing-song melodies are still present. On the other hand Revenge, the Edmonton band, is not melodic in any way. It's blazingly fast, heavy, you can't hear what they're singing about, the song's themes aren't bland and that's basically perfect. I listen to a bunch of other music too but if blazing fast metal never existed, I would probably be fat. Metal music is great workout motivation.

I saw Marilyn Manson when Antichrist superstar came out at the metropolis. It was amazing.

Saw him again when he opened to slipknot and it was horrible. Not sure if he has any more shows in him :(

@Mocha, saw disturbed 3 times and would see them again. Fantastic live.

I'm a metal head as far as I can remember...but since 2009 my TV, as rarely it is turned on, it's on Disney channel and other kids channel...unfortunately for me, this is not where I can stay up to date as for the heavy metal scene...so I will gladly follow your thread...

I am deeply in love with "In this moment" right now... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GurkREc-q4I (as good as Slipknot but from a hot chick singer)...not into feminine metal much but this group kicks asses!!

Sorry for late post folks but I'm an old school metal head too!

I was 15 years old when my cousin introduce me to metal with Iron Maiden "life after death" album. It was a revelation for me! And I just keep going since then!
Metal is not like fashion. It's a way of life! And until I'll die, I'll keep listening Metal songs and attending shows!

I have been in quite few metal shows over the years!
I have my ticket on the floor for "last ever show" of Slayer at Montreal at Place Bell in next May 30th!
Don't miss your chance to see Slayer for one last time folks!

I attended recently, Sword at Club soda and cross Snake from Vovoid and Lulu the little sister of Rick and Dan Hughes! ;)

Also attended recently, Killswitch engage/Anthrax, August burn red, Mastodon, Opeth, Testament, few Heavy MTL shows, etc etc!
If there is a Metal band performing at Montreal, there is a good chance I'll be there!

By the way, since you are Metalhead too, you should go see my review of Alexie@xxxception I posted yesterday.
I had an memorable GFE+/Metal session with her on last Thursday nitgh! :D

Another SP I'm used to play Metal song in my session with her is the one and only Sonia at Unicorn! And another amazing natural red head lady like Alexie!

Oh I got my ticket alright, never pass up a chance to see Lamb of God and with all the other bands on the card, this one was a no brainer!! Been to most of the shows you listed.

Never been with an SP that likes metal, but definitely on my to-do. Thanks for the tip on Sonia and Alexis :)
