It`s pay back time from Nature for our crimes against the environment, with the smallest and most lethal weapon in its arsenal....the lowly half alive virus.
While the covid pandemic is not letting up with long covid making life miserable for millions, Monkey pox has arrived and is spreading rapidly. Polio is trying to make a comeback.
Now a totally new virus has been discovered in China called Langaya. Probably spread from eating Shrews. Those damn wet markets again.
Little is known about Langaya but it hasn`t spread from human to human....so far. A close viral relative of Langaya does spread among humans and has a kill rate between 40 and 70%. No cure or vax against either virus.

Not always the case. Smallpox supposedly killed 90% of the native population of the America`s after Europeans introduced it to a population that had no immunity.
The black plague (a bacterium) killed over 30% of Europe spreading fast from one country to another.

Yah but at that time, they couldn’t have quick responses to slow down propagation. There were quarantine measures but this is not the case anymore since we understood how to control with sufficient sanitation. This is why they closed down Grosse-ile quarantine island. It became a memorial.
