Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash

News of this just coming in. Everyone in the chopper also died. Bryant's wife was not in the chopper.

I'm hearing that he was among 4 other people on the helicopter to have perished. The crash occured in Calabasas, which is north of Los Angeles. The crash occured just prior to 10 am (west coast time) this morning.

News says Kobe's 13 yr old Daughter was also on the Helicopter and she has died

Very very sad

A total of 9 people died in that helicopter crash. They were heading to a basketball game in which Kobe's daughter Giana played in & Kobe was one of the coaches. Initial reports mentioned a fire inside the helicopter. I also heard reports that problems first began happening while flying over Los Angeles but that they decided to move over to the hills in order to avoid crashing into a populated area.

A sad day indeed . My condolences to all the families that lost a loved one in the crash and may they find the strength to deal with this tragedy... life is fragile and tomorrow is not guaranteed so love your loved ones

Terrible news hearing that his beautiful daughter had also perished with him , just can’t imagine what his last thoughts were as a helpless father :(

A true legend of the sport of basketball . A passionate player and a true inspiration to so many people. And as much as I loved watching him play the game I also enjoyed listening to him in countless interviews after he retired . One of the most eloquent and well spoken athletes , a very special and complex man

God speed Kobe RIP

Why was he allowed to fly?? This is so sad...

The LAPD had grouded their own helicopter because of heavy fog. Same for many flying school. Basically all who were accountable to whom they were flying with decided to ground their chops that day.

Why why why was he allowed to fly? I am sad but angry at the same time.

Toronto Raptors winning streak now at 13

The amazing Toronto Raptors went into Indiana last night & came out with a win, their 13th win in a row. They're now 3rd overall in the standings behind Milwaukee & the LA Lakers. What makes this streak even more amazing is that it came with several of their key players out with injuries, as has been the situation for most of the season. Whenever a player returns from injury another seems to fall to injury. But the bench has been nothing short of amazing, to say the least.

Kyle Lowery hasn't slowed down a bit & Pascal Siakam is having an MVP-type of season. Serge Ibaka is playing his best basketball as a Raptor & Freddie VanVleet has continued to improve. Marc Gasol has been effective as a starter but has been battling a hamstring injury over the past few weeks which has kept him out of the lineup. Norman Powell has been magnificient coming off the bench but he's currently out with a broken hand. The Raptors decided to stay put & not make a move at the trade deadline.

It may come down to the Raptors & the Bucks fighting it out in the East versus either the Lakers or the Clippers in the West. Miami has played extremely well, same thing with the Celtics. But the Sixers have been a huge disappointment throughout the season.

Yes impressive Doc, the Raptors are a well coached team...and coach Nurse who came from basically out of nowhere has the Raptors firing on all cylinders!

And it's now 14 in a row!!!!

The Raptors beat the Nets tonight without Kyle Lowry & managed to squeak out a win with the Nets having the final shot trailing by a point! Go Raptors!

The Raptors hit the jackpot when they decided to gamble and hire Nick Nurse
Even if they lose all five of their starters he will still be able to work his magic

I agree. A lot of people including myself were pissed off when they let go Dwayne Casey. And even more when Casey was named coach-of-the-year!!! But Nick Nurse has totally surprised me & i'm absolutely impressed with his coaching & he also seems like a player's coach. Not many coaches win the NBA championship in their rookie year.

On another note the Raptors currently trail the Timberwolves by a point after the half. Great to see Kyle Lowrie back in the lineup after missing the last game with a neck injury. The Raptors are going for their 15th win in a row tonight! Go Raptors!!!!

The Raptors' winning steak came to an abrupt end last night in Brooklyn. Nothing was going in for the Raptors. It was this type of game. Usually the bench comes up and often plays as good as the starters. But for once it wasn't the case last night.

The Toronto Raptors are currently third overall in the NBA and clinched a playoffs spot last night against Golden State & Stephen Curry. The fact they've been among the league's top teams throughout the season is simply amazing considering all the players they lost to injury. Many figured the Raptors would have a hard time reaching the playoffs without Kwahi Leonard. But other players have stepped up & have improved their play. Veteran players such as Kyle Lowry haven't missed a beat and continue playing great ball.

For me there is no doubt in my mind who the coach-of-the-year is: Nick Nurse. And it's not even close!
