Look behind you.
First time ever that a NDP government is in power in Alberta, mixed feelings about this one as NDP is known to raise taxes to give all the free stuff away that they promise.
Hope they do not screw up the oil industry with a raised royalty or quit trying to get the much needed pipelines built. Wait and see now.
The Conservatives did deserve to get the boot but was hoping for a Wildrose win.

This is really quite amazing! I am not a supporter of the NDP but you are right when you say the Conservatives deserved the boot. This could change the face of Canada almost as much as the first win by the Parti Québécois here.

Just noticed that there is a heavy snowfall warning in Edmonton today. Hell did freeze over.

Canadians just don`t learn.
After the NDP took power in Ontario ...they ruined the economy and were kicked out after one term. Same thing in BC.
I`ll give 10 t0 1 odds that they don`t last more than 1 term in Alberta.
I`ll also bet that Alberta will be in a recession by the end of 2015..

With oil on the upswing I do not think that will happen, can not see the NDP doing any drastic changes the first term ( guessing they want a second term ).
But I could be wrong.

Wow, things must have been really bad in AB for the people to make such a drastic decision. I really hope this doesn't turn out to be a disaster for them, but the NDP certainly does not have a reputation for fiscal responsibility.

If this happens, who is going to support Quebec? Without receiving the benefit of Alberta's surplus in transfer payments we will be facing a deficit in our budget. Will we then be faced with even higher taxes? Cuts to essential programs and services?

Hmm. The Conservatives give all the free stuff and breaks to the rich and the corporations. They deserved the boot and is not fair what they were doing. Regular people are struggling to make ends meet since automation and outsourcing has made a lot of jobs disappear. It is the low income and middle income class that pay the price while the rich get richer and richer. Finally a party is in power that thinks about regular people who need help the most instead of the rich. I say tax the rich even more. They already got too much money. And one can see what a slump the economy is in now. Thanks to Brian Mulroney and Stephen Harper. Their moto is so giving money to the rich did not work lets give more money to the rich. Stephen Harper needs to also be booted out of office.

Quebec can be a self supporting province if it got rid of the environmentalists, there is enough gas in Quebec to bring in billions in revenue same with oil but not as much. The plan Nord needs to be started full force very soon. The fracking ban was a stupid knee jerk reaction by people who did not know that fracking has come a long way and is safe now. The way the US does it is not near as safe as Canada due to the strict regulations they have to follow.
As for Quebec's programs and services, not bad for a have not province. Other people in Canada would give up plenty for the $7 day care and ultra cheap education, the 1/2 price beer is also a plus.
In Alberta daycare is between $600 & $1000 a month depending on where and what services are given.
Love your government run car insurance, my daughter is just starting to drive and will start the mandatory $1,000.00 course which I do not mind paying. In Alberta no course required buy if you do take it your insurance increase will drop from around $2,000 a year to around $1,400. Here my insurance will go up $100 when my daughter starts to drive............ Big plus.

The NDP are doing a very poor job in Manitoba but no revenue comes out of that province. I can see the Alberta flat tax going and possibility of a PST, I just hope they do not fuck with our oil and impose a carbon tax or raise royalty rates.

Good news for Alberta, they will help the middle class and make the rich pay more taxes. Nothing wrong with that.

No that is all fair and good. It is the raised taxes, PST and increased royalties that worry us. Ontario and BC are still trying to recover, Saskatchewan has recovered due to oil and well Manitoba is really in the crapper with a NDP government.

NDP in Alberta is bad for the country. The low oil prices / high CDN dollar is dragging us down. Now we have politically correct wanna-be do gooders dragging down the oil business with their environmentally friendly bull.
