The politicians have announced that they will build the Champlain bridge replacement by 2018. I would not be surprised if it too them past their original time estimated in 2020. Coderre and asshole Lisette has said that they will negotiate with the federal government for no tolls. What utter BS! There will be tolls, no matter what anyone will say.

By the ways it was closed on Sunday for repairs and I was forced to take the Victoria Bridge which is accessed by going all the way down rue de la Montagne, and then taking a right and going straight until you get to Bridge Street, at which you take a left. The Victoria is a creepy one lane steel drawbridge. Your car feels like it is slipping all over that bridge. Very creepy unnatural sensation.
The sensation of that bridge is definitely freaky on first attempts. The first time I was on it I was in a borrowed M3 that was less than a week old, and I hit the grated flooring doing about 90...definitely not a good idea. If you keep it under 75 you still feel the pull from left to right, but traction is actually better than most asphalt roads, even if it feels a little funny.
Drove thousand of times and yes many times doing 'real test drive' with many different cars (not careless driving like the late ... ) and it is only creepy if your car is not well balanced or aligned.
Basically if your car is in top shape there is no way it will skid or slide unless there is ice or snow.
It is known thru out the 'real car enthusiasts' in the region that Victo's a good test drive for any car when you want to make sure it is well aligned and balanced.
As for the Champlain bridge... we finally got everybody (even some hardcore federalists) admitting it was yet another fiasco from the retards in Ottawa :lol:

Complete nonsense. I had a long trip and drove over multiple bridges including the Pont Champlaign coming in to Montreal, and the only bridge on which my car was slipping and sliding was the Victoria Bridge. Made my car feel like a rally car. I thought I was going to crash through the railing and plunge into the St. Lawrence River several times during the crossing.

Depends on who the politician is... Surely a conservative government will build a bridge with tolls. If the liberals get elected then there is a chance for a toll free bridge. As for the Victoria bridge since I live in Old Montreal I usually take that bridge it takes some getting used to. That bridge never failed me... The other bridges and including the Lafontaine tunnel sometimes were closed. Now with the problems at the Champlain bridge the Mercier, Jacques-Cartier will be much more congested. Victoria is a very useful and reliable alternate bridge. It is the last one that people consider taking.
Totally agree about the Victoria. Went across it back in august and those were my thoughts exactly, "creepy" especially as i was the only vehicle on the bridge at the time... felt like i was slip sliding away. Could have been the car is was driving however, it is quite powerful.

Is the Victoria the only drawbridge with a metal grid that you've ever driven over? There are many metal grid drawbridges in this world and they all feel the same and they're all quite safe. You should try going over one with a bike sometime.
You misunderstood, no tolls but they really meant no Toll Booths
There will be no toll booths but tolls will be recorded by a transponder in the car that is tied/charged to an account. If u have no transponder it will send u a bill recorded by picture of your license plate.
Recording mechanism is above the traffic lanes. It is called flyover tolls. Then they will add it to more roads.

Here in NJ, EZ Pass actually admitted that they didn't have the necessary tools in place to enforce the toll cheats a couple years ago

Bunch of sissy's, I used to drive on Victoria Bridge when it was open for inbound and outbound traffic at rush hour on one side of that bridge.

I remember the two way traffic on the Victoria. It is amazing that I never scrapped a car no did I ever see anyone else getting scrapped.

I always liked chaotic neutral myself. Although I find a lot of people have a very weird interpitation of said alignment.
