Can anyone tell me the make, model and year of "Deathproof", the car with skull and crossbones on the hood which Kurt Russell drives in the movie of same name? The first poster who posts the correct answer gets a drink care of Shijak at the next GT.

By the ways, Zoe Bell did all of her own stunts in the movie, and what you see is what you get in that car chase scene.

BJB,

Russell never drives the 1970 Dodge Challenger in the movie. The Challenger (which is white) is driven by the group including Zoe Bell.

Your post is a guess - only accurate responses qualify.

my impression of the movie

I just saw the movie Grindhouse,
The first fake trailer 'Machete' was excellent,
after that it comes the Planet terror that for me was pretty funny, I like it and Rose McGowen look pretty hot even with just one leg. The music is cool based on J. Carpenter work which for the ones that does not know him, he is the creator of Hallowen masterpiece.
The other three trailer were so so, maybe the best one was thanksgiving by Eli Roth which I think uses the same voice used in Hostel 2 trailer.
Then it comes 'deathproof' which personally I did not like it. I thought that the stuntman Mike was going to kick ass all the movie but he chicken out by three angry girly chicks.
The first part of the movie was good, until stuntman crashes its own car againts the first set of girls. That was pretty good. After that it becomes too slow, excessive chicks chit chat about nothing. I would love to use the forward button in that moment, it was like 15 minutes of nothing. Finally stuntman is again and as I say it already he chicken out pretty easily which was very dissapointing to me. Tons of 'Girl power' and that type of stuff.
It was a pitty that the lapdance scene was not included, I suppose it will come as an extra feature in the DVD version.
just my opinion,
Gizmo

Just came home from seeing the movie(s).
Yes, I loved the fake Machete trailer too.
Planet Terror was funny. I loved the part where the reel was lost. Nice and gritty filming too.
I missed the first fake trailer between the 2 movies. If anyone can tell me what is was about, let me know. I heard it had something to do with werewolves. The fake trailer about Thanksgiving was funny.
As for 'Death Proof,' I felt that the beginning and end parts were excellent, and that the movie dragged on in the middle, especially when the 4 girls in the yellow car were first introduced.

ck_nj,

The trailer you missed was "Werewolf Women of the SS", which I felt was the weakest of the four fake trailers. Nicholas Cage had a cameo at the end of it.

Can you send me a PM and explain what happened to the first group of women in "Death Proof" as I stepped out to but concessions right after the prior scene involving Kurt Russell and Rose McGowan. Thanks.

Not surprising considering she's a stuntman (well stuntwoman) and not an actor by trade.

JB,

Zoe Bell was the stuntwoman for Uma Thurman in the Kill Bill films but was a lead actress in "Death Proof." Yes, I knew she was a stuntwoman by trade but in this film she was an actress first and stuntwoman second, although her character in the movie is, in fact, a stuntwoman.

If you see the movie you will see that the question isn't stunt vs. real but rather stunt vs. simulation as it is clearly at all times Zoe Bell doing what she is doing, and unless you see the movie, you will not understand what I am talking about.

Saw Grindhouse yesterday finally...I was in geek heaven!!:)

It's funny how Tarantino tried to bring back many 70's movies staples, such as the cartoony "Restricted" warning to viewers, the psychedelic coming attractions spot and more, and both directors did a good job trying to keep the movie's timeframe vague (apart from a couple of the characters using a celphone with textmessaging a few times).

a bit more of the gross-out factor in this movie than I like, but many of the actors pulled in some very decent performances (though I still wonder why Bruce Willis was even IN this movie, he almost had nothing to do...doing a favour for pal Tarantino?)

Didn't see this thread before.

My opinion on the movie. Horrible. Completely horrible compared to all his other movies. I've seen ALMOST all of Tarantino's movies, and comparing to them, this absolutely has to be the worst one i've seen. The whole movie was slow. It didn't have any story line like most of his other movies do... it didn't have any UMPH to it... I was watching the whole thing and thinking to myself... "fuck me... this shit could have been directed by some fucking high school kid..." I mean... seriously... watching Tarantino's shit usually fucks with my head and makes me think... "that shit was so whack, that only Tarantino could think of that..." but watching this... wow... it was soo slow and lame... a good chunk of the movie was about girls chit chatting about god knows what.... and it is very true that the whole movie was kind of like "girl power" shit... HUGE dissapointment for me in my opinion...

I got a chuckle when I bought the tickets, the kid selling them said he had to inform me that the movie was made to look like it's "falling apart" but not to worry it's not really breaking... and the messages from the managment aren't real.

here's my thoughts on the flicks... first of all, i loved the overall experience of the movies. Grindhouse as a package deal is very cool, especially for someone that doesn't mind being entertained for 3-and-a-half hours...

PLANET TERROR
Once again Robert Rodriguez didn't disappoint. Robert clearly dove head first into making this a "Grindhouse" movie experience. You can see his hands on touch in every frame of his work, and from begining to end never seemed to lose it's pacing. Even his use of the MISSING REEL card was perfectly used. It actually felt like you lost 30-40 mins. of the film (or a full reel). *as opposed to in Death Proof where it felt like it was thrown in as a gag and possibly only lost a 5-7 min. clip... The story was simple, yet creative. And even with all the violence and gore that filled the scenes, it was very funny... Even the girl I went with leaned over and said, "Am I suppose to find a horror movie this funny?" All in all, I think Robert grabbed this idea with both hands and embraced it 100%... 4-1/2 outta 5 for PLANET TERROR.

DEATH PROOF
1st half of Death Proof was extremely solid, following suit with the Grindhouse style that Rodriguez mastered. However..... Once the first half was up, so was the feeling that I was watching a "Grindhouse" movie. 2nd half of the film felt to me like Quentin found a story he really liked and focus more on that then creating the "explotation" throw-back type of film... Not that there's anything wrong with that. Because, quite honestly I enjoyed the movie. I dug the Stuntman Mike character, and Kurt's dead on delivery of him... Did the dialog scenes get a bit long and wordy, a little... Did it take me out of the movie at all, nope... The 1st car wreck in the flick was un-fuckin-believable! The chase at the end was fucking intense as all fuck... and the "twist," on Stuntman Mike, at the end was actually kind of unexpected. 1 question, what happened to the cheerleader? Other then that, I think Quentin's mind set was that the "Grindhouse" style of film was a cool concept, but got sucked into being a creative stroyteller instead of dedicated filmmaker. I don't think it hurt the film, but it was noticable. Death Proof 3 outta 5...

TRAILERS
FUCKING HILARIOUS!!!! Machete & Thanksgiving NEED to be put into some kind of production... Father Cheech, need I say more??? Edgar Wright's DON'T was very funny. and of course Zombie's Werewolf Women of the S.S. was so fucked & so twisted... It looked a lot like some of his older music videos, which in my opinion coulda made some cool & twisted horror flicks in their own right...

GRINDHOUSE OVERALL gets a 4 outta 5...

I had fun, and didn't think for one second that it wasn't worth the price of addmission.

Uncle K,

Great review, and I agree with most of what you say, especially with regard to "Death Proof" deviating somewhat from the Grindhouse concept, even though it was an entertaining film.

I also got the same disclaimer as you with regard to the film's "scratches" and "sound pops" from the high school ticket girl. I politely told her that I actually saw real Grindhouse films when I was her age, and that I knew exactly what to expect.

The action in The Bourne Ultimatum is absolutely unbelievable, eye-popping stuff. I’m not just talking about one or two big action sequences here. Every second, every moment is jammed with danger and intensity.
If you’re like me your nails will be firmly buried in the arm of your chair the film’s entire 111 minutes.

If there’s anything disappointing in here it’s that it's probably the last Bourne movie.Easily the best movie of the summer.

Since it made 70.2 million in the North American box office this weekend, I doubt it. Bourne I made 27 million its first weekend, and Bourne II made 52 million. Look at this trend:

Bourne I - 27 million
Bourne II - 52 million
Bourne III - 70.2 million

As long as Matt Damon wants to do it and the director wants to direct it, Bourne IV will get made. Audiences want their Bourne, and they should get it.

BTW I have not yet seen Bourne Ultimatum, but I thought the first two Bourne movies were excellent and I am not surprised by the opening of the third.
