So you are saying his French is good? Sounded horrible to me
Well, they proved that you dont need a 7-10 M goalie to win the cup. My feeling is we wont see these high goalie contracts 8n the future. They signed Georgiev because they are cap strapped and don't have the money to sign Kuempfer who is being allowed to walk. Avs going with low cost goalie tandem of Georgiev and Francouz and hoping one of these 2 backup goalies can show himself to be a starter. Good luck with that experiment.
They also beat Vasi and I dont think there was any luck involved there. We will see what Kuempfer and Campbell get in a very thin goalie market. Colorado won the Cup despite not receiving high end goalie services in the playoffs, but they played some teams like Edmonton that had awful goaltending and they also beat St. Louis after their goalie was deliberately injured. So in my opinion Colorado got a little bit lucky on their way to the Cup. I am assuming they think they can get by with Georgiev and Francouz or that one of them will step up, but we will need to see if that happens.
Well they did get lucky that Brayden Point was injured. In case you forgot, Point was playoff MVP the 2 prior years. The TB offense stalled a bit without him. I also think TB had a tougher road to the finals than Colorado did, and Vasilevskiiy may have been worn down by some of the OT games he played and general overuse. That the Avs got lucky with these factors cannot be ignored, even though you may try to ignore them. They also beat Vasi and I dont think there was any luck involved there.
Not ignoring anything, I just dont agree at all. Playoffs are playoffs, you have to adapat to all the shit that can happen. At 27 y.o., if Vasilevskiy was worn down he may as well retire. Do you think guys like Roy, Brodeur, Hasek or Fleury would have felt any fatigue in these circumstances? If TB didnt rise to the challenge of loosing Point, they simply didnt deserve the cup, great teams use this kind of badluck as motivation to rise. That the Avs got lucky with these factors cannot be ignored, even though you may try to ignore them.
