With a possible 52 game season:

Does 65 points win the points scoring title? 70?
Does 40 goals win the goal scoring title? Or 35?
Will any team win 35 games? Is that the high water mark?

Good to see something positive, with Lafrenière not able to play with Team Canada (Rangers said no) and Romanov on a plane yesterday to Canada with is girlfriend, look like we are back to an nhl season in a few weeks. It will be a special one.

Wolfie,

I am glad Rangers said no to Team Canada. LaFraniere is now a Ranger and New Yorker first and foremost and not a Canadian. This young Rangers team is several years away from starting a dynasty.

The Bruins are considering playing home games outdoors this season
The possibility of regularly competing at Fenway Park is in an "exploratory phase."

“The Bruins have been in “consistent contact” with both the National Hockey League and state and city officials about potentially playing their home games outdoors this upcoming season....

The Bruins are reportedly one of six teams looking into the idea, along with the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Dallas Stars, and Nashville Predators...”

^^I saw The Bruins host the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2010 Winter Classic played at Fenway (Home of the Red Sox).
I have also seen College Hockey at Fenway.
I’m sure the Cold Weather and Snow may have a big Factor for which Games get played outdoors.
Also those rare Warm Winter Days....

I read somewhere that the teams would likely travel to divisional opponents to play short series of games , think along the lines of a baseball schedule with back to back games or three in four nights ...this will greatly reduce the time needed to travel... but yea good news indeed and I’m already looking forward to January and some Hockey ... we need Sports more than ever to help keep us sane in these times , sports and a few lovely SP’s

You Maple Leafs fans will be interested to know that Toronto draft pick Ryan Tverberg has committed to UConn and is one of 5- yes, 5- NHL draft picks on the UConn roster:

Will play in USHL this season and for UConn next season, where his talents will be developed free of charge to the Maple Leafs.

Toronto thinks highly of Tverberg, but he isn't the highest of UConn's young corps of NHL draft picks. That would be the Russian that Calgary drafted in the 2nd round. All of UConn's NHL draft picks are very young kids and they seem like their team will be loaded in the coming years with NHL type talent!

Tough blow for the Caps! Pretty sure Lundqvist was not the backup....so the Caps are looking for a starting goalie!

Not much to choose from at this point.....anyone keep their street hockey pads?

Guessing it's Corey Schneider or Anderson at this point

The Caps had planned to use 23 year old Ilya Samsonov as their primary starter but Henrik likely would have played 25 games at the very least, maybe 30 plus so now they need a veteran with experience who can handle a lot of work in case Samsonov flops.

No Hockey in Canada in 2021 is looking like a very good possibility as the NHL's Canadian teams will join the Toronto Raptors in playing all their games in the USA:

What this means for you fans of the Habs, Leafs and Oilers is that there will be no home ice advantage and your team will play all 52 or 56 games on the road.

Gaby,

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Habs will play in the XL Center in Hartford, home of the former Hartford Whalers?

The Hartford Canadiens? Or the Hartford Habs? The Hartford Canadiens does not make any sense......

56 Game Season Approved; Canadian Teams Still Twisting In The Wind

Here is where I would put the 7 Canadian teams:

Montreal Canadiens to Hartford, CT or Providence, RI
Toronto Maple Leafs to Cleveland, Ohio
Ottawa Senators to Baltimore, Maryland
Winnipeg Jets to Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Edmonton Oilers to Salt Lake City, Utah
Calgary Flames to San Francisco, California
Vancouver Canucks to Seattle, Washington

I heard this morning on radio that the 7 Canadian teams will need the approval of 5 provinces and in the US from 18 states ......and it looks good here cause---particulièrement in Québec and Ontario--both Premiers are big big fan......BUT still the big problem is how to deal with les mesures sanitaires.....i really hope the season will start le 13 Janvier and we will have hockey played here in Canada.
