Opus Card for Montreal Metro

I has been over a year since I have written or read a post on this board, so I may be asking a question that has been addressed before. I searched for Opus card and found nothing, so here is my question: where can I buy an Opus card near Hotel Du Fort? More importantly, how does it work? I will be visiting Montreal next month and I don't want to look stupid standing in front of a machine and not knowing what to do with the Opus card.

Also, there was a time when 3-day passes could be bought. How does a 3-day pass thing works with the opus card? Once you scan the card, do you get a receipt as a proof of a puchase? I read that opus card can be charged for one day pass. In short, I want all the information about this opus card thing. If this has been discussed before on a different thread then please provide a link.

You can purchase one at any underground Metro booth. Be warned if you only speak english the employee there may suddenly become surly and uncooperative (yes, they can be THAT childish!!) You have to pay a small fee for the card itself apart from your metro/bus 'tokens', for lack of a better word.

Thanks for the info. Techman. It appears that they sell 1-day and 3-day tourist cards. I would rather buy those because I will be staying in Montreal for 3 days. Are these same as Opus or are these cards different?

I really couldn't tell you. I'd assume that they might be different from the regular card because those have to be made to last for a much longer time. I think the tourist cards are just throwaway cards similar to the single trip card and I don't think you have to pay the $7 charge for the regular card in that case either.

YUP, looking at the first link I posted, you can find this information:

The 3 day fare is 16$. You need the "occasional card", not the Opus. You can buy it either in a metro Station or less than a block away from your hotel at tabagie 2000 on Ste-Catherine.

I take the metro once ever 7 years because I have a car. It must be a job requirement for the job of ticket taker to be rude, racist and unpleasant. I have never been treated respectfully by a ticket taker in the metro.
