The title is very misleading and based on no scientific data. If I tell you that 100% of people with throat cancer ate potatoes almost their life long, will you believe me claiming eating potatoes is a leading cause of cancer. This the difference between a causal effect and just something that goes the same direction. I don't know why some are publishing those crazy stories. The easiest way of transmitting HPV orally is by kissing. Should we stop kissing? And by the way, 80% of population is HPV positive.

Throat cancer is 5X more frequent in males vs females. I would be surprised males provide more oral sex than women. There are a lot of unknown there. I also find this bizarre that this discussion about oral sex is in "theconversation". The problem is about anyone can publish there.
