Maybe he can name a garbage dump or some toxic waste after Robert Bourassa.

I agree with most of the opinion on Park ave. beside the one from Joelcairo. If not of Bourassa, he would freeze to death in his apartment. He should revisit his history. Bourassa his behind the mega hydro project up north that allow us our standard of living. Even though I wasn't a great fan of him, we should respect the man.

Mr. Tremblay should have stayed away from this topic. He's a master of misstep like his project of Notre-Dame Street and the increase of rates of the parking meter downtown Montreal. What a great way of attracting business !

My two cents is that if Tremblay wanted to honour Bourassa, he should have picked another street like St-Joseph. Their is so many streets, city, village and so on name after St-Joseph in Quebec, I think it wouldn't make much controversy. Even though I'm from a catholic background, I wouldn't mind at all with my excuse to the catholics.

They should have named the Hydro Quebec building after Bourassa. I have absolutely no good memories of the man, and I grew up when he was in power. If some choose to honor him, so be it. But do so in any way that will not cost money to the public for changing letterheads, business signs and other money that would have to be spent due to the changing of a street name. Name a park or public building after him. Or put up a statue so that the pigeons can share their opinion with everyone.

As for Tremblay, I hope no one forgets what he tried to do. Going against the will of the people should have it's consequences and should lead to the end of his political carreer.

And a very big thank you to the Bourassa family for their assist in stopping this nonsense.

Call me naive Franz old boy but I think western civilization might just possibly have survived even if that Old Needlenose had not blessed us with his presence as premier of Québec.

Franz,

I don`t think Bourassa was exactly a visionary here... It didn`t take a genius to figure out that this hydro project was needed for Quebec. The project was begging to be done and was already being promoted before he came to power AND -- 100% it would have been implemented with or withour Bourassa. He just happened to be there at the time to conveniently take the credit. Do you really think that if Robert Bourassa had never been born that we would all be huddled over garbage can fires today?

ummm yeah... I don`t think so.

It could further be argued that during his politcal career in Quebec, largely due to his introduction of language laws, Montreal went from Canada`s ``premier`` city and in fact, one of the world`s most important financial/manufacturing centers to become what it is today -- a stagnant bureaucratic ``average`` city, most known as a good place for cheap rent, tasty food and s from hot 19-year old SPs...

Hey -- I guess it`s not all bad.

long live PARK AVENUE!!!!

Yeah, the power to make their case based on a non-existent 40,000 name petition. Hahahahaha! :D
