I agree with this. We live in the era of political correctness and I do not care much for that. It prevents people from expressing their opinions and facts. If something is true but they cannot say it without being accused as racist or homophobic.

It's more like we can't take the criticism... What happened to her is a real tragedy. If she made this kind of statement public, she had to deal with the backlash of said statement PUBLICLY. Obviously the threats were excessive but what happened to the middle ground? What happened to good old debates over drinks until someone passes out?

I am trying to get my head around how anyone, especially these supposedly liberal social justice warriors, could criticize her for what she said. It is a simple scientific fact that gay men and transgendered persons constitute a very large percentage of HIV positive people.

that she said she refused that's her choice but if you re-read her original tweet, she's like "hey you who's replacing me, know that he did gay porn" was that necessary? it was a really dumb statement. the harassement after that was wrong and undeserving. she did also apologize but that got lost into all this. it should have been the end of the discussion.

Being as young as she was, she didn’t exactly go about her statement and response in the most mature ways. If she had brought data with her and worded it more eloquently, it would have been much better for her. However, twitter just isn’t the place to post a statement which can be interpreted in so many ways, and she shouldn’t have posted it.

I definitely looked at her side of it, as well, and acknowledge how the gay male porn industry is much more likely to contract STD’s amongst performers, so her choice to not have sex with a male who has performed in all-male porn is backed up with legit concern based on data and research.

Unfortunately, she didn’t make a statement like that using tact, and it turned into the final straw that drove her over the edge. Online bullying sucks.

It’s a complex debate, but in the end, she’s dead, which sucks. I don’t believe she was a malicious person, but I also believe her immaturity showed and she didn’t handle it very well.

Too much "analysis" and speculation in this thread. I suspect that some of you have bigger issues than she did but are simply older/more experienced to cope with them than she did. Bottom line is that she was cool, beautiful, loved by her friends, a great performer, and will be sadly missed by many fans, family and friends. I regret not booking her sooner... I've heard only great things about her from the people who actually KNEW her.

What? We need to try harder. LOL

But seriously, as far as the cyber bullies go I will say this. The so-called tolerant seem to be the most intolerant. They don't want free speech and acceptance. They want everyone to think exactly the same way they do.
