No I get it , but nothing is written in stone and politicians come and go all the time ... Oil is cheap but prices go up and down so nothing new there ... I know that they are hurting now but eventually they will recover... although I’m not sure they will ever get back to Alberta’s version of “normal” ...

But I understand the frustration as there are a lot of jobs lost and big energy interests at play but maybe the time has come to move forward and develop more natural gas and other green alternative sources for energy because for better or for worse the environmentalists are here to stay , no matter who is in charge in Ottawa...

They can separate from the earth and fly off to outer space, but a gasoline economy does not have a future. You will always have a market for oil - until green energy becomes potent enough to power heavy industries - but the market conditions no longer exist to charge a premium for it. There's a reason why petrostates like Saudi Arabia are hungrily diversifying into other sectors.

They are adapting, what Alberta needs/needed to do was exploit their resources ( oil will be around for decades, do not fool yourself ). The tanker ban, the Northern gateway pipeline was canceled partly due to Trudeau's ban. Once the US ( Biden ) shutdowns Enbridge line 5 the east will see their costs go up in heating plus fuel, this is not just the west that will feel the crunch. Alternative energy os not feasable yet and will not be for a long time, dreaming if you think it will be.

The US purchased Alaska from The Russian Empire for $7 million in 1867, which adjusted to today's dollars is around $132 million or $0.37 per acre. I think those would have likely been Trump's starting offers.
