Hello everyone,

Decided to come out of retirement just to make a post about some sad news. Around years 2002-2004, and I say "around" because my memory is failing me about the exact timing, I was very close to Alissa Montréal. We had a very special friendship that lasted a few years, went on trips together, have been confidents, helped each other about different things in our business and personal life's, etc. Things evolved and we eventually got each in a different direction, but we would both stay in contact via email once or twice every few years.

I recently tried to contact her with no result. I was somewhat worried as we were always both very happy to hear about the other, and I got worried she didn't replied. I then made a search on her real name on the Internet...

Very sad news... Alissa passed away due to cancer in August 2015 (and based on a picture, I know for sure it's her)

I figure some people she got to know here, women and men, would like to know, hence this post.

Take care

Thank you for sharing. My thoughts are with her friends and family.

Remember the great time you had with her, as long as you live these memories (and Alissa) will be immortal.

CA, first welcome back. Good to see you here even if it's temporary. Thanks for passing along this sad news. I never met Alissa but I definitely have known a few ladies who worked with her at one time or another. As I recall, her agency was one of the first, maybe the first of the higher priced, more exclusive Montreal agencies. I think she always had a good reputation, at least among the members of MERB. It's sad that her life ended while she was still young.

Cancer has claimed so many people close to me , children of friends, parents, family, friends, neighbours, co-workers..............this disease needs to be conquered. I would encourage everyone to make a donation no matter how small to cancer research so that this disease can be beaten in our lifetime. Too late for Alissa but there are many others that will be affected and hopefully we can prevent some deaths going forward.

Hello my ol' friend. Thanks for the news, but it would have been preferable that they would have been better news. I remember Alissa quite well and met great women through her. I also spent quite a lot of time back in the years chatting with her about all kinds of things and i was fully aware of how close you two were at one time. My condolences, my friend. Although you hadn't seen one another for years, i'm certain that learning of her passing still affected you.

I've often been wondering what has happened to favorite women of mine over the years. If i go by stats, i'm certain several of them are no longer with us today. But at least the good memories live on.

Condolence CA for the loss of a friend and to her family, its a shame when this disease claims the lives of people, especially when they are taken in their prime, i am not a stranger to this disease for it has claimed many family members to date and also friends in the past, i wish they would stop trying to put people on the moon and put a bigger effort on the things that really matter........"LIFE" is at the top of my list, i have watched family and friends suffer, been there when they passed, to close their eyes for a final time.

I am sure Alissa brought smiles to many people while here and this is a plus for many, as Billy Joel, says" Only the good die young"

Thank you all for the condolences, but that was not why I posted. Just so people know Alissa is gone, for those who had to deal with her at some point and liked her.

But in reply to Doc's comment, yes, knowing about her passing away still affected me after all these years. I couldn't do anything for a day, constantly having flashbacks about moments spent together. It's ok now.

This also reminded me about a number of people I neglected over the years, and it's too bad. Shame. Life is too short!

There is a lot of truth in what you said. Over the past 17 years, i've met many people through this business. Some have remained in contact and are still friends today, many others have left and gone away for good. What surprised me over the years was that it was to be expected from the ladies i met, but the guys i met over the years whom i considered friends at the time often broke off complete contact with whomever they had met through the biz. I suppose that everyone has his or her reasons and i have to respect this. I've never 'retired' myself, so it's difficult for me to judge since i have never been in their shoes.

But one thing i discovered over the past year or so is that people do come back once in a while, and from my experience when i meet them again it's just like our last meeting was yesterday and it wasn't this difficult to resume the relationship or friendship i had. In a few months, one of my buddies from the past whom i haven't seen in years will likely be back in Mtl and i'm certain nothing will have changed if we do meet up.

Last summer, a very good friend of mine from the past whom i hadn't seen in over 10 years contacted me right out of the blue and suggested we meet for lunch the next time i'd be in town. Although 10 years had gone by, it only took a couple of minutes for the awkwardness to disappear and it was like we had last seen one another yesterday. Nothing much seemed to have changed other than some stuff in our personal lives, but one thing i realized is that friendship never really dies if you didn't have a good reason for that friendship to go south at the time.

It's really nice to see you around again, buddy! You were one of the first persons i befriended through this business and i always considered you to be one of the good guys and especially a top-notch person! :thumb:

p.s. One of my regrets over the years was never getting to meet Alissa in person. She had suggested several times that we meet for drinks. But back then, i was timid & sometimes paranoid and mostly avoided meeting people connected to the business. My bad.
