just learned that Annie Altman was an SP, homeless, and did not have any savings. her brother is the famous Sam Altman, CEO of openAI. Annie Altman claimed her brothers abused her when she was young, and her family neglected & abandoned her.

what she claimed was probably true, but I still don't understand why did not she ask her brother for help and why did not Sam Altman reach out to help his baby sister. Sam Altman was the CEO of openAI, could easily arrange a prune job for her at his company or any company, jobs like executive assistant earning a big fat cheque for "picking up the phone".

family relations are difficult to understand, but this is hard to watch.

Yeah, the Péladeau brothers we’re in a very similar situation. I would point out to the fact that, when we read the term « abused », it is not always(although it very often is) about sexual abuse. There are many ways to abuse a vulnerable person and, voluntarily. keep him/her in a precarious position to ones benefit.

This isn't even a situation in which you'd have a reason to pull the "what about false accusations?" card. This isn't a courtroom, this is just a woman claiming her family abused her and someone asking why she didn't ask her family for help. I was just reacting to him saying “what she claimed was probably true”. We have no idea what is true and what is not!

And yes, the abuse might not have been sexual… even though Sam’s sexual orientation (gay) could have evolved over time and abuse is not about sex

Not when you've chosen to live on the streets to get away from them. That's like telling every runaway ever why don't you go back home to your warm bed... Because there was unforgivable things happening at home and they prefer to brave the cold streets than to deal with the even worse home they have run away from.

It's not about pride. It's about personal safety, and not accepting being treated poorly.
