Just a newb question, but if a provider asked for deposit by Amazon giftcard is that normal? Just don’t want to get roped into a scam… thanks guys!!!

Gift cards are a normal form of deposit ... but that doesn't mean you aren't getting roped into a scam! (I'm guessing that's why @Flyingby asked which provider.)
Sometimes they may offer gift cards as an option if you are uncomfortable with bank transfer, but usually its their prefered way as its actual money. I know the ones asking for Steam gift cards are usually scams, but amazon i think is more common. That said, do your research AROUND this deposit requirement. Look for social media, reviews, what kind of ads it is etc. If its an establish provider that been around for a while and well reviewed, then the deposit is very safe (nothing is 100%, but chances of scams are minimal). That said make sure its only a small % (like 100$ out of 500$ or such). Don't pay in advance for a longer meeting like multiple thousands. I seen it happen even with establish providers that it was a bad idea.
Yes. I’ve had this happen. Rarely. Maybe 2 times. I don’t like it tho. I use PayPal or e-transfer or Wishlist.

I have sent deposits via Amazon and other things, if the provider is reputable it is all on the up and up. Never been ripped off.
Use the tools here to research the provider to to get a sense of their reliability
It is normal but you have to be sure the provider is reliable and truly exists…
Scams are common so it never hurts to be careful…

You (client) can also get scammed with or without a deposit. That’s why you need to do your research prior to booking.LMAO. Yes, that's it.
