Why are companions screening?
The answer is simple, it's for their safety. In the unfortunate event that something would happen to them (a violent client, SA, theft etc.), they would have the client's information to make a police report.

How are they screening?
Here are some information that are commonly asked by providers requiring screening:
Full governmental name
Real phone number (text apps would not pass the screening)
ID with photo (you may hide your address and personal numbers)
Link to your LinkedIn profile
Photo of yourself with the date on a piece of paper
Voice note
A DM on a pre-determined website

Please note that if a companion says on her website or ad that they are screening, it DOES NOT mean they will be asking for all the above. Some agencies might be doing some soft screening as well such as asking that you contact them using a real phone number.

How can you avoid screening?
You can't. If a provider says they are requiring screening, just say "sorry it won't work" and look for someone else. Trying to convince them to overpass screen isn't well seen in the industry. There are many people not requiring screening just find one.

"I am well known/I am important/I am a public figure".
If that's the case, you should be familiar with NDAs. I know a lot of my peers have signed some for important clients.

" I've already screened with so&so, do I need to screen with you too?"
If you've completed screening with a companion and you email another one, you will be asked for the same information again. The reason is we do not communicate personal information with each other, people also have their own requirements.

"She is not even using her real name, why should I give her mine?"
Your risks and hers aren't the same. She risks her safety by meeting you while you are risking to have a bad experience because of lack of chemistry.

"So&so has been posting her client's real name and info on X/Twitter. I am afraid to send my info."
It is valid, if you have any doubts or don't feel comfortable, just move on. There's only a few workers posting information online and in most cases, it is to expose dangerous clients. Just like them, you can screen and avoid certain providers by taking a look at their social media and determine if you'd be a good match.

References

Some providers might ask you for a reference in lieu of screening or deposit.

Very nice, makes your life easier but what is it?
A reference is simply an email from another reputable companion mentioning that you were an enjoyable client.

How can you get one?
Preferably, you would ask the last sex worker you've seen to be your reference. After they have agreed, you would send their name and email to the person you are trying to book with.

Why the last?
It's in your best interest to provide the name of the most recent person you've seen because many people do not accept old references or simply won't provide one past a certain amount of time.

Can you always use the same person as a reference?
Technically yes, but it is a bit gauche. The person you use as a reference needs to answer emails from peers on top of the emails from clients. Many won't accept to be your reference more than two times.

I am not debating on the need for SWs to screen, but the second part of this affirmation is false. That is not the only risk for the John’s.

Ok you’re risking getting your money stolen or finding someone hidden in her closet waiting to beat you up. If you stick to reputable providers and agencies, those things normally don’t happen.

You have reviews to warn you in case there’s a provider stealing wallets, a provider kicking you out before your time is up, a provider “working” with a boyfriend or anything worse.

Escorts can only trust their gut that the client will be safe, ask for a reference or screen.

Those two exemples are of course only applicable for sex workers that do not work on the streets.

Around the corner
I understand a provider wanting to screen for their safety it is what they should be doing.
I have no problem giving another provider as a reference or my Merb handle, and using my real phone but giving someone I have never met a copy/photo of a government ID, no it is never going to happen.
Like you stated I will just move on to someone who accepts the screening I am comfortable with .

There is another way also but a bit costly but worth it which I have used. Book a duo with the provider you would like to meet with one of your favourites and have her arrange it. After if you had a great experience she knows you and you are all set. This is an easy way to meet someone new plus your favourite will be pleased also in not just providing a reference.
Where there is a will there is a way lol.

No offense to anyone, but its a crap shoot for everyone.
I tried a couple of times to go this route and see an Indy, but it didn't work out, ill stick to agency's and ladies who i have known over the years.
To each their own, and i have to agree with Fradi, there's no way i will give this kind of information to someone i don't know.
When i call you, my id is not blocked and you can see my name come up, I'm not hiding who i am.
And always remember, you want our information, and yet we don't know your real name either(for some at least). And you do this to protect your identity.
I understand you need to protect yourselves, well, i am doing the same.
Keep doing what you are doing, i respect you wanting to be careful and to protect yourselves, in the world we live in, i can understand you wanting this for yourself.

Thank you for your services and stay safe.

Because we can be detained at the borders when travelling to the US, because society doesn’t really accept sex work, because some men could stalk us.

Like I said, this is not a debate if you do not agree with screening this thread is not for you, you don’t need it lol

I respect the screening process and understand why it needs to be done.

This being said, I would never give my personal information to someone I have not met yet. I have a problem with "being filed" left and right in this business.

I'll just say I'm AirBo on Merb (and will gladly send a DM) and hopefully that won't get me blacklisted right away
