Snow Day! how does it affect our hobby?

as we expecting up to 40cm of snow tomorrow, it feels like Montrealers are bunking down. Perhaps because we hadnt had a heavy snow fall in very long time it feels like this time more than usual friends and co-workers are planning to work from home, cancelling plans, avoiding the streets and generally slowing down for the next 1-2 days.
Which makes me wonder: is this a time where providers are getting busier or less busy? do you take advantage of a slow work day to meet a girl or you wait it out?

I would assume if you don't have to travel much (like just using subway or a small downtown ride) it may not be a big deal but personally unless there is something planned way in advance wich i can't get out then i would avoid making a trip to Montreal in a huge snow fall.

Winter of 1971... Now that was a real snow storm (19-32 inches)... this one is only going to be just over 13 inches...

Anyway, from my childhood I remember winter in Montreal always being like it is today, lots of snow and cold. It changed somewhere along the way.

The weather today is what I remember. We also had a hockey team, the Habs, lol!

Years ago i happened to be in Mtl when they had the biggest snowfall of the year. It was on a Sunday & everything in town was at a standstill! The roads downtown weren’t getting plowed until the storm stopped & the sidewalks weren’t cleared. Forget driving downtown & walking was more like following a trail made by other pedestrians. However that type of weather wasn’t that much of a big deal for me. I’d seen worse. That week i was staying at the Doubletree & my buddy from Chicago was staying at the Omni. I remember several agencies were closed that day necause of the storm. The ones that were open had a very small roster mostly because many of their girls lived in the suburbs & couldn’t into the city. And it also caused a lack of available drivers.

However i was hungry. I could have went down at the food court but i wanted to join my buddy for lunch. So i decided to take the subway to Peel & walked to Sherbrooke street via the underground at Cours Mont-Royal & ended up at the Scotiabank on Metcalfe just across the Omni. The only time i was outdoors was when i crossed the street from the Scotiabank to the CIBC next to the hotel. When i got to my buddy’s room he was shocked to see me! I said “Let’s go for lunch & then we can catch a movie!” He had just got off the phone with his wife & told her “Honey, this is the biggest snowstorm i’ve ever seen in my entire life! The roads are all full of snow! There’s nowhere to walk! And Doc is staying at the other end of town so i probably won’t see him before i leave tomorrow! This is incredible! I didn’t think it could snow so much! Omg!” I laughed and said “oh, that’s nothing. I’ve seen worse!” So using the underground we went to eat downtown & saw a movie afterwards.

i have wondered if snow storms bring out clients who have slow days at work and nothing else to do, or keeps them away...
Personnaly, since i'm always on a schedule, i avoid hobbying on snow days
