But I always wondered what would Dionne have accomplished if he'd played with the talented Montreal Club at the time ?

He did play for Montreal scoring 21 goals in 39 games in the 92 seasons...ehhh... are we talking about Gilbert Dionne ???

I agree. But many great players never won a cup. I'm sure we could make a couple of all-star teams with them. For example, Gilbert Perreault.

But for whatever reason, there are still some people out there who see a player as a total failure if he's never won a cup. Stupid.

Yes I agree Doc

But Gil Perreault has won the Memorial Cup with the Montreal Junior Canadians and went in the foggy final against Philly !
While Marcel Dionne Failed in is Memorial Cup quest while pLaying with the St-Catherines Black Hawks against the Ramparts and "Tit Guy"

Memories of Great players

You know your hockey Doc !:thumb:

Rogie Vachon ...............................................................................

I considered mentionning Rogie, but wasn't sure if he was on the habs team which won the Cup when Dryden joined them late into the season as a rookie.

Boston trading the great Tyler Seguin to Dallas has been a disastrous trade, and even team President Cam Neely recently admitted that the team made a mistake by trading him. Not many players Boston got back in that trade are left. Boston should have thought twice about giving a big contract to such a young player with a well-earned reputation of being a party-boy and later should have shown more patience in letting him mature. What a coup by the Dallas Stars!!

The bruins have a reputation for giving up on young players, the most notable besides Seguin is Joe Thornton.

What about the Oilers selecting Taylor Hall instead of Tyler Seguin with the first round draft choice ?

It was a no-brainer pick by the Oilers. 99.9% of NHL teams at the time would have picked Taylor Hall. He was the consensus #1 pick at the time. Had the roles been reversed and Seguin played with a lousy organization like the Oilers, maybe Hall would be a bonafide superstar today and Seguin may be flipping burgers at Wendy's.

Well it is certainly one explanation !But Hall at the time was playing with a way better Junior club then Seguin ,the two times "Memorial Cup" champs Spitfires ,was that the "no brainer"?

There was another team that could have drafted Seguin but they gave away their pick for a player that ultimately disappointed them and was traded himself.

Would that mean that there is other teams other then the Bruins having difficulties evaluating young talent
